부산 배산성의 성격 (Characteristic Research of Busan Baesanseong Fortress)

초록

이 글은 배산성의 시․발굴조사를 통해 밝혀진 내용을 중심으로 산성의 축조 시기와 성격 및 특징을 밝히기 위해 작성된 것이다. 초축 시기는 성벽의 축성법과 유물의 출토맥락을 고려할 때 6세기 중반 신라가 축조하였음을 밝혔다. 성벽은 수차례 수축이 이루어졌고, 통일신라시대에는 한 차례 대대적으로 개축되었다. 또한, 성 내부의 집수지와 건물지 역시 산성과 같은 시기인 것과 후대에 축조된 것으로 나누어진다.
배산성은 부산에서 경주지역으로 이어지는 육상 교통로와 남해를 이용한 해로의 결절점에 위치하며, 주변에는 이 지역 고대의 중요한 유적이 분포하므로 거점성의 기능을 수행하였음이 분명하다. 통일신라시대 동래고읍성이 축조되면서 배후산성으로 성격이 바뀌게 되지만, 그 중요성은 유지하였다.
한편, 배산성의 초축성벽는 6세기 중반 신라 산성의 특징을 공유하면서 새로운 축성술이 확인된다. 개축성벽은 통일신라시대 전형적인 축성법이지만 기단보축이 설치되었다는 점에서 이 시기 다른 석축산성과 차이가 분명하다. 이글에서는 자세히 다루지 않았으나 북동쪽 성우는 비정상적으로 돌출되어 있는데, 돌출부 내부에 대한 시굴조사에서 건물지가 확인되었으므로 초축 당시부터 돌출되었을 가능성이 크다. 이 경우 우리나라에서 최초로 확인된 익성이 되는 셈이다. 그러므로 6세기 중반 신라 석축산성의 다양성과 통일신라시대 성벽의 지역성을 밝힐 수 있는 중요한 자료이다. 또한, 8세기 중․후반 동래고읍성으로 치소가 이동되는 양상을 명확하게 설명할 수 있는 몇 안 되는 성곽이다. 특히 배산성에서 출토된 기와는 북동쪽으로 6㎞ 정도 떨어진 회동동유적에서 공급되었을 가능성이 크므로 산성 내 기와의 공급체계가 명확하게 밝혀진 최초의 사례로 볼 수 있다.

영어초록

This article is written to reveal the construction timing, characteristic and property of Baesanseong Fortress which focus on the contents revealed through excavation survey. As a result of reanalysis of the survey, it is reasonable to consider Baesanseong Fortress is built by Silla in the mid-6th century, based on the construction method of the primary embankment walls and the excavated artifacts. It is also noted that multiple renovations occurred during its construction. And then, It was transformed into a different landscape from the previous period due to the large-scale renovation in the Unified Silla Period. Mountain Fortresses are located at the nodal point of the land transportation route from Busan to Gyeongju and the sea rout using South Sea, and important relics of ancient in Busan are distributed around it. Therefore, in the Three Kingdoms period, it served as a base fortress -local government-. As the Dongnae-eupseong Fortress was built, its characteristic changed to the hinterland fortress, but its importance was maintained.
On the other hand, a new construction technique is confirmed as the primarily constructed wall of Baesanseong Fortress shares the characteristic of Silla Fortress in the mid-6th century. Although it is not covered in this article in detail, the northeastern Seong-wu protrudes abnormally. And then, it is highly likely that the building site protruded during the initial construction because the excavation survey of the inside of the protrusion confirmed the building site. In this case, it becomes the first confirmed Ik-seong in Korea.Therefore, it is a data which can reveal the diversity of Silla’s stone-based fortress in the mid-6th century and the locality of the wall built during the Unified Silla Dynasty. In addition, It forms as a local government and it is one of the few fortresses that can clearly explain the movement of local government to Dongnae-eupseong in the late 8th century. Especially, tiles excavated from Baesanseong Fortress are likely to have been supplied from the Hoedong-dong ruins about 6km to the northeast, so it can be seen as the first case in which the supply system of tiles in the fortress has been clearly revealed. Therefore, it is difficult to deny that Baesanseong Fortress is an important relic that can reveal Silla’s governance method in Busan and the government system that protects the enemy invading from South and East Sea.
