외국인 유학생의 교수학습지원에 관한 요구 분석 및 프로그램 설계 방안: 강원 H 대학 사례를 중심으로 (Need analysis and program development for foreign students' from the aspect of teaching and learning support)

초록

목적 본 연구는 외국인 유학생의 교수학습지원에 관한 요구를 살펴보고, 분석 결과를 바탕으로 교수학습지원 프로그램의 설계 및개발에 필요한 시사점을 도출하여 실제 프로그램 개발 방안을 모색하는 것이다.
방법 강원 소재 H대학의 외국인 유학생 63명을 대상으로 요구 조사를 실시하였으며, 1차 분석 결과를 기반으로 외국인 유학생을지원하는 전담부서의 실무진과 교수학습지원 전문가를 대상으로 2차 FGI를 시행하고 시사점을 도출하였다. 1, 2차 분석 결과를기반으로 실제 지원 프로그램의 설계 방안을 구체화하였다.
결과 첫째, 외국인 유학생의 학업을 지원하는 교수학습지원 프로그램에 대한 인식 및 참여 경험이 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학습 내용의 이해가 높은 학생과 낮은 학생간의 양극화 현상이 두드러졌다. 특히, 일반적인 한국어 보다 수업 내용 이해에 언어적장벽을 크게 느끼며 특히, 듣기영역의 장벽이 두드러졌다. 셋째, 학업 수행에 관한 자기 효능감, 내재적 동기, 과제수행 능력에 관해외국인 학습자 스스로 긍정적으로 평가하고 있으며, 학교 활동에 적극적으로 참여하는 학생들의 자기 효능감, 흥미, 즐거움이 유의미하게 큰 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 가장 필요한 학습전략은 시간 관리 전략으로 나타났다. 넷째, 가장 선호하는 학습유형은 온라인개별 학습이며, 주요 정보는 학교 홈페이지와 SNS를 통해 취득하는 것으로 확인되었다. 다섯째, 학업 및 학교생활에 있어 어려움발생 시, 학업 문제는 동기나 선후배를 통해 해결하고, 개인적인 문제는 타인과 공유하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 교수자와는학업 문제나 개인적인 문제 모두 도움을 요청하지 않는 것으로 조사되었다. 여섯째, 개방형 설문 결과 가장 어려움을 겪는 영역은언어적 어려움, 경제적 어려움, 전공 수업에 대한 어려움 순으로 밝혀졌다. 이러한 내용을 기반으로 교수학습 전문가와 유학생 전담실무자들을 대상으로 FGI를 시행한 결과, 첫째 Mentor 교육의 강화 둘째, 전공 관련 기초자료 제작 및 제작유형의 시각화와 다양화섯째, 중⋅장기적 차원의 한국어 입력(In-Put) 강화 보충 프로그램 제공 필요의 내용으로 프로그램에 대한 설계 및 개발에 대한 시사점이 도출되었다.
결론 첫째, 외국인 유학생들이 토로하는 근본적인 문제인 학업 적응 및 향상을 위해 외국인 유학생의 요구 분석과 학교 내 현황을종합적으로 고려하여 이들의 교수학습지원방안을 체계적으로 설계하고 운영할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 언어적 제약을 감안하여 시각적자료 제공 및 자료 유형과 형태의 다양화가 필요하다. 셋째, 정규 교육과정 외 비교과 교육과정과의 적극적인 연계가 필요하다. 넷째, 기존에 운영되고 있던 프로그램에 대한 분석, 평가 환류 과정의 강화가 필요하다. 다섯째, 외국인 유학생 대상 연구 수행의 심화 및다각화와 지속적 확대가 필요하다.

영어초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to examine the needs of foreign students for teaching and learning support, and to draw implications for the design and development of teaching and learning support programs based on the survey analysis results.
Methods A demand survey was conducted targeting 63 foreign students at H University in Gangwon. Afterwards, based on the results of the analysis of the survey, FGI was conducted and analyzed for the working staff of the department in charge of supporting foreign students and teaching and learning support experts.
Results First, it was found that there was a lack of awareness and experience of participation in the teaching and learning support program that supports the study of foreign students. Second, as a result of analyzing the level of understanding of the learning content, the polarization phenomenon between students who understood the learning content well and those who did not was remarkable. It was found that they felt a greater barrier in under standing the contents related to the class than in general Korean comprehension skills, and in particular, it was confirmed that the difficulty was great in the listening area of Korean. Third, self-efficacy, intrinsic motivation, and ability to perform tasks were evaluated positively, and students who actively participated in school activities had higher self-efficacy, interest, and pleasure. The most necessary study strategy for international students was investigated as a time management strategy. Fourth, the type of learning they prefer the most is online individual learning. It was confirmed that foreign students acquire important information through the school website and SNS. Fifth, when difficulties arise in academic and university life, it was investigated that academic problems were solved through peers or seniors and juniors, but sharing of personal problems was not shared. In particular, it was investigated that they did not ask for help with their professors both academic or personal problems. Sixth, as a result of examining the area of greatest difficulty in academics through an open-ended questionnaire, it was investigated in the order of language difficulty, economic difficulty, and major class difficulty. Based on these survey results, FGI of experts and practitioners was conducted. As a result, mentor's constant education was strengthened.
Second, It is necessary to produce and provide major related data and the production and data types were diversified and visualized. Third, mid-and long-term supplementary Korean language input (In-Put) program is needed.
Conclusions First, it is necessary to systematically design and operate a teaching and learning support plan by comprehensively considering the analysis of the needs of foreign students and the current situation in the university in order to adapt and improve their studies, which is the fundamental problem of foreign students. Second, it is necessary to provide visual data and diversify types. Third, it should be considered to connect regular curriculum with the extra-curriculum. Fourth, it is necessary to strengthen the analysis and evaluation feedback process of the existing programs. Fifth, it is necessary to deepen, diversify, and continuously expand research on foreign students.
