추체험을 통한 초등미술감상 지도방안: 과정드라마를 중심으로 (A Study on Teaching Method of Art Appreciation through Re-enactment Using Process Drama)

초록

구성주의 교육 및 존 듀이의 경험으로서의 예술, 맥락주의 , 문화이론과 같은 철학적 배경을 바탕으로 미술 감상 교육의 목표는 더 이상 감상자가 작품 속에 내재된 고정된 의미를 찾는 과정이 아니라 작품과 감상자 사이의 만남을 통해 감상자가 발견하는 의미의 문제임을 강조하고 있다. 본 연구자는 미술감상의 목표와 관련하여 사회 문화적 맥락에서 접근하는 시각문화 교육관에 보다 주목하였다. 시각문화에서 작품의 ‘해석’은 사회문화적인 ‘맥락’을 포함하는 주관적이고 창조적인 의미 생산 활동이다. 그렇다면 미술작품의 ‘해석’은 실제 수업 상황에서 어떤 방식으로 구현될 수 있는가? 추체험 미술 감상은 위와 같은 문제의 대안이 될 수 있다. 추체험(追體驗,re-enactment)은 다른 사람의 체험을 상상적으로 다시 체험하는 것 내지는 재구성한다는 의미를 담고 있다. 역사학 및 해석학에서 비롯된 추체험은 역사의 상상적 이해를 위해 미술사 및 역사교육 분야에서 활발하게 논의되어 오고 있다. 타자의 행위를 이해하기 위해 서 타자가 속한 사회를 상상하고 감정을 이입하는 과정에서 타자의 행위를 새롭게 이해하게 된다는 것이 추체험 학습의 근간이다. 이는 “마치 ~ 인 것처럼” 살아보는 극적 경험에 기반을 둔 교육연극적 학습 원리와도 맞닿아 있다. 본 연구는 문헌연구를 통하여, 추체험이 미술 감상 교육에서 갖는 의의를 찾아보고, 추체험 학습 원리와 과정드라마의 관계성을 탐구하였다. 이를 바탕으로 두 가지 미술작품을 선정하여 실제로 수업에 적용하였다.
사례연구의 대상은 초등학교 5학년 30명으로서, 수업의 적용결과를 문화 기술적으로 기록하였다. 두 가지 작품에 대해 각각 4차시, 5차시 총 9차시의 수업 안을 작성하고 실행하였다.
미술작품을 감상하는 데 정해진 방법은 따로 있지 않다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 추체험 미술 감상은 작품의 이해에 있어 작가와 작품을 둘러싼 역사적 사회적 맥락을 포함시킴으로써 보다 적극적이고 다면적인 감상학습의 가능성을 밝힌 사례로써 기여하고자 한다.

영어초록

The visual-cultural approach of art appreciation considers art education in the larger frame of cultural education. In this approach, art works is not the object of meaning-discovery but of interpretation. The 'interpretation' in visual-cultural approach is concerned with social conditions where the artworks are produced and meaning brought out by the 'interpretation' is made by viewer's own perspectives. Such perspectives of art appreciation demands a change of existing methods of art appreciation.
Following this perspective, this study suggests 're-enactment art appreciation' as an alternative art appreciation. Re-enactment is about re-experiencing or re-composing someone else's experience in one's imagination and is one of epistemological method used in the area of history. Re-enactment is mainly employed in the arena of history for imaginative understanding. This study considers that the 'interpretation' of visual-cultual approach and the understanding of history through 're-enactment' are essentially related and dramatic experience can be employed to embody 're-enactment'. Therefore, process drama is chosen for dramatic experience and devised for crystallizing 're-enactment'. This study consists of literary research about re-enactment, art appreciation and process drama and application of theoretically constructed lesson plans into real classroom.
The findings are as follows.
First, the re-enactment art appreciation through process drama is fulfilled by engaging in social-cultural context where artworks are produced and thus, by reaching interpreting the artworks.
Second, the understanding or interpretation in the re-enactment art appreciation through process drama takes place when viewers find emotional connection with artworks.
Third, the understanding or interpretation in the re-enactment art appreciation through process drama lies in viewers' perspectives which are produced form linking artists' intention and the value of artworks with their own lives.
Fourth, the re-enactment art appreciation through process drama provides integrated experiences. It integrates learners' experiences, history, arts and history.
It is hoped that this study can contribute to enriching the visual-cultural approach of art appreciation by placing social-cultural context.
