『호은경험방』의 서지와 향약명 어휘 (The Bibliography and Hyangyak Terminology of Hoeun Gyeongheombang)

초록

이 글은 국어학계에서 다루어진 적이 없는 필사본 의서 『『호은경험방』을 대상으로 서지 사항과 방문의 새 향약명 어휘를 분석한 것이다. 책명의 ‘湖隱’과 부기되어 있는 저자 정보에 따르면 『『호경』의 원저자는 조선 후기 문신 호은(湖隱) 신량(申湸)으로 추정된다. 『『호경』의 필사자는 불분명하며, 형태 서지적으로 볼 때 17세기 후반에 필사된 것으로 여겨진다. 표기와 음운 현상 역시 17세기 후반의 우리말을 반영하고 있다. 여타 의서와 달리 주방문이 포함되어 있는 점이 특징적이다.
방문을 번역한 언해문은 없으며, 한어명 약재명에 대응되는 우리말 향약명을 한글로 표기해 두고 있다. 341개의 향약명 어휘 항목 가운데 새로운 어형을 보여주는 것은 48개이다. 기존 의서의 형태와 같은 비율은 86%, 새 어휘 형태의 비율은 14%에 해당한다. 새 어휘 형태를 보여주는 비율이 비교적 높다. 개별 어휘로 보면, 새 고유어 향약명은 41개, 한어명 향약명은 36개로 모두 77개의 새 향약명이 발굴되었다. 한어명과 고유어가 모두 새로운 형태를 보여주는 것은 ‘霤下土 지봉골챵’, ‘毛建草 미나리아자비’ 등 29개이다. 그리고 새 고유어 향약명은 ‘螳螂 항귀아비’, ‘石菜 돈ᄂᆞ믈’ 등 12개, 새 표제어 한어명은 ‘栗芒殼’, ‘豆泡’ 등 7개가 확인되었다. 기존 의서에 드물게 나타나는 향약명으로는 ‘ᄲᆡ알초’, ‘어서리’, ‘귀룡나모’, ‘이라리버러지’ 등이 나타났다. 한어명으로 제시된 것 중 ‘‘多邑木皮’, ‘加士里’, ‘僧魚’, ‘栗木內朽赤’ 등은 차자표기가 분명하며 ‘明枷草根’, ‘蓂灰草’, ‘餠蛙’, ‘牛找草’ 등도 차자표기일 가능성이 높다. 『『호경』은 향약명 어휘사적으로 새로운 형태의 어휘가 많이 나타난다는 점에서 가치가 있는 문헌으로 판단된다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the bibliography and Hyangyak Terminology of Hoeun Gyeongheombang(Hogyeong). The main conclusions are summarized as follows; First, Hoeun Gyeongheombang was written by Hoeun Shinryang[湖隱 申湸] in the late Joseon Dynasty, and bibliographically Hogyeong is presumed to have been copied in the late 17th century. According to the writing system and phonological phenomena, it reflects the Korean language before the late 17th century. The three versions of Hogyeong appear to have been copied from the original book at a later date, and they can be grouped into a single category among the ‘Gyeongheombang’ type of medical books.
Second, In Hogyeong, 341 lexical items of Hyangyak Terminology, 45 disease names, and 8 other vocabularies are written in Korean. Among the Hyangyak Terminology, there are 48 lexical items that show new forms. The proportion of lexical items that are identical to the form of the existing medical book is 86%, and the proportion of lexical items showing a new form is 14%. Moreover, the value of Hogyeong is validated in that the proportion of items in which new vocabulary appears is relatively high.
Third, in terms of individual vocabularies, a total of 77 Hyangyak Terminology were discovered, including 41 new native words and 36 Chinese words. There are 29 new words in both Chinese and native words, such as ‘霤下土 jibonggolchang’ and ‘毛建草 minariajabi’, and 12 new native words, including ‘螳螂 hanguiabi’ and ‘石菜 donnʌmeul’. Furthermore, there are 7 Chinese names for the new headwords, including ‘大莽蛇 daebunsa’ and ‘豆泡 dupo’. In addition, the Hyangyak Terminology that rarely appear in existing medical books were identified as ‘sbʌialcho’, ‘eoseori’, ‘gwiryongnamo’, and ‘iraribeoreoji’.
Fourth, The Chinese words for ‘多邑木皮’, ‘加士里’, ‘僧魚’, ‘栗木內朽赤’ etc. have been clearly transcribed with borrowed characters, and ‘明枷草根’, ‘蓂灰草’, ‘餠蛙’, ‘牛找草’ etc. are also likely to have been transcribed too.
In summary, Hogyeong has been judged to be a valuable document in that many new forms of vocabulary appear in the lexical history of Hyangyak Terminology. What is more, it is believed that it will be of great help in describing not only the individual lexical history but also the lexical history of Hyangyak Terminology itself. In the future, it will be necessary to compare and analyze the ‘Gyeonghyeonbang’ versions of the Hogyeong series in order to describe its bibliographic and Korean linguistic characteristics. Finally, there is a need to comprehensively organize and classify the bibliographic system of ‘Gyeonghyeonbang’ type medical books.
