盛世中国梦的反思 — 论陈冠中的≪盛世：中国⋅2013≫

초록

This research, focusing on memory and oblivion, studies the novel ≪盛世≫(‘The Fat Years’) written by 陈冠中(Chan Koonchung), an ethnic Chinese writer, to understand how the writer used the structure of the novel to analyze the Chinese Dream. The writer constructs a conversation with the discourse of the Chinese Dream to reveal its contradictions and to thereby demand alternations. Therefore, this study aims to explore the tension of the conversation. Oblivion is the key metaphor of ≪盛世≫. Unlike the collective oblivion in ‘The Book of Laughter and Forgetting’, written by Milan Kundera, where professors are expelled and forced to engage in oblivion, the oblivion in ≪盛世≫ is an unconsciously chosen by the general populace. The people in ≪盛世≫ embody the market economy principle and drench themselves in materialism and hedonism to the extent of being completely ignorant of public affairs. They even exhibit facile forgetfulness, which is a modern phenomenon in which people become forgetful due to information overload. The sovereign who sees right through such pleasure-oriented psychology of the populace manipulates their memory through the freedom of consumption. Also, the sovereign exploits mass media's mechanism of public opinion to create a collective will, exterminating the memory of a certain event and impairing independent cognition and judgment of the populace. For over a decade 陈冠中 observed China, of which he accumulated social, political, and cultural agendas of the country. He used the agendas as elements of the text to vigorously enhance reality. However, the purpose of his creation is not only to merely explain the Chinese society but to establish a forum to discuss social agendas and promote social participation. As the Cross-Strait Relations of China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong are becoming complex and the future of ethnic Chinese more uncertain, 陈冠中, with dedication as an intellectual, investigates the truth and falsity of the Chinese Dream and searches for solutions. Such an attitude as a writer enabled him to contribute immensely to the pioneering of the direction of Chinese literatures.
