초록

Ka'bah known as the House of God Allah is the heart of Islam, the spiritual capital of the muslim world, the symbol of Islamic unity and the principle of monotheism, contrasts with its pre-Islamic concept as a house of idol-worship. Five times a day, more than 1.6 billion muslims in the world are facing the Ka'bah while in Salah, and every year, more than 2.5 million pilgrims make tawaf around it during the Hajj and also they bury dead facing the same direction, making the Ka'bah the only physical thing that muslims identify with continuously, even after death.
Concerning the building of it, there are sayings that it was built by angels, or by Adam, or by Sheeth, the son of Adam. However, according to the Quran, it was by Abraham and his son Ishmael. Inside the Ka'bah and on the roof of it, the Qiblah is in all directions with two rak'ah. Entry to the Ka'bah is restricted to very few persons for the reason that it is simply not feasible to open the building to the millions of pilgrims and worshippers, and it is washing twice per year with perfumed water, once before Ramadan, and once before Hajj.
The covering of the Ka'bah, the Kiswah is a sign of respect, honor and reverence for the Ka'bah. It was mentioned that Ishmael or Adnan, the great grandfather of Muhammad was the first man to covered it. But the proven fact was that Tuba'a Al-Hemyari, King of Yemen was the first to cover it. The Kiswah is regarded as a source of pride, which is changed every year, so the custodian of the two holy mosques pays to the production of it with great care and attention.
