청소년 새터민의 문화변용과 심리사회적 적응에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Acculturation and Psycho-social Adaptation of Saetomin Adolescents)

본 연구는 청소년 새터민의 문화변용 유형을 살펴보고, 이들의 개인적 특성에 따라 문화변용 유형에 차이가 있는지, 문화변용 유형에 따라 이들의 자아존중감, 비행, 남한사회 만족도와 같은 심리사회적 적응에 차이가 있는지, 그리고 개인적, 가족적, 지역사회 요인들 중 어떤 요인들이 남한문화 수용에 영향을 미치는지 분석하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 7-24세에 해당하는 청소년 새터민 90명을 대상으로 이들의 남한문화 수용정도와 북한문화 유지정도 점수를 근거로 문화변용 유형을 통합형, 동화형, 분리형, 주변화형으로 구분하여 분석하였다.
연구 결과, 조사 대상 청소년 새터민들 중에는 남한문화 수용과 북한문화 유지를 동시에 잘 달성하고 있는 통합형이 가장 많았으며 다음으로는 남한문화 수용보다는 북한문화 유지를 더 잘하고 있는 분리형과 남한과 북한 문화 둘 다로부터 상대적 격리현상을 보이는 주변화형이 많았다. 문화변용 유형은 청소년 새터민의 성별, 남한거주기간, 부모나 친척과의 동거여부와는 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았으나 다른 유형에 속한 청소년들에 비해 주변화 유형 속한 청소년들의 나이가 통계적으로 유의미하게 적은 것으로 나타났다. 문화변용 유형에 따라 청소년 새터민의 자아존중감, 비행, 남한사회만족도 모두는 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다. 또한 청소년 새터민의 남한문화 수용은 남한거주기간이 길고 남한 보호자의 양육방식이 긍정적일 때 더 높은 것으로 나타났다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to identify the types of acculturation of Saetomin(Noth-Korean defectors who now became South-Korean citizens) adolescents and analyze whether there is a difference in acculturation types due to their individual characteristics. The study also explores differences in self-esteem, deviant behaviors, satisfaction to with life in South Korean due to acculturation types and identifies personal, family and community factors which affect assimilation to South Korean culture. For the analysis, acculturation was divided into 4 types based on both assimilation level of South Korean culture and maintenance level of North Korean culture.; integration, assimilation, separation, and marginalization. The data were analyzed with the data collected from 90 Saetomin adolescents of age 7-24. The results showed that the integration type was more frequently found among Saetomin adolescents. Age of those in the marginalization type was significantly lower than those in any other typers, while the other personal variables had nothing to do with acculturation type. Self-esteem, deviant behaviors and satisfaction with life in Sout Korean were significantly different due to acculturation types. Although the type of Acculturation was not statistically significant with the sex of Sae tomin Adolescents, period of residence in South Korea, whether they lived with parents or relatives, compared to the adolescents in other types, the age of the adolescents in the marginalization type had less significance statistically. According to the type of acculturation, Self-esteem of Saetomin Adolescents, deviant behaviors, satisfaction with South Korea culture all had significant difference statistically. And their assimilation score to South Korean culture was higher when length of stay in South Korea is longer and nurturing style of South Korean guardians is more positive.
