새터민에 대한 지역사회주민의 사회적 지지 영향요인 (A Study on Factors Affecting Social Support of Community Members Provided to North Korean Settlers)

초록

본 연구는 지역사회주민의 새터민에 대한 사회적 지지 수준을 알아보고, 지역주민의 인구사회학적 요인, 심리사회적 요인, 행동적 요인들이 새터민에 대한 사회적 지지에 유의미한 영향을 미치는지, 그리고 이것들 가운데 어떠한 요인들이 새터민에 대한 사회적 지지에 가장 큰 영향요인으로 작용하는가에 관한 탐색적 연구이다. 조사대상은 대전광역시 지역사회에 거주하면서 새터민을 만나본 경험이 있는 20세 이상의 지역주민들로, 최종 134명의 사례를 분석에 사용하였고, PASW 17.0 프로그램을 사용하여, 빈도분석, 기술통계분석, t-test, 상관관계분석(Correlation), 다중선형회귀분석(Multiple Linear Regression Analysis)을 실시하였다.
분석결과, 새터민에 대한 지역사회주민의 사회적 지지 영향요인은 타문화 적응능력, 연령, 교육수준, 사회적 거리감, 새터민과의 접촉빈도로 나타났다. 즉 지역사회주민의 타문화 적응능력이 높을수록, 연령이 높을수록, 교육수준이 낮을수록, 새터민과 친밀하게 느낄수록, 새터민과의 접촉빈도가 많을수록 이들의 새터민에 대한 사회적 지지 수준이 높아지는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 연구결과를 기반으로 새터민에 대한 남한주민의 사회적 지지 제고를 위한 논의점을 제시하고, 연구의 한계점 및 향후 연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to scrutinize the reality of social support of members in the community provided to North Korean settlers and to determine influential factors of the present situation from an empirical perspective. In the present study, influential factors of social support of members(in the community provided to North Korean settlers) are grouped broadly into three groups - sociodemographic, psychosocial, and behavioral factors, and examined how each group of factors affect social support of members in the community for North Korean settlers. Finally the study explores directions for future social work intervention which seeks to improve social support of the community for North Korean settlers by analyzing predictive variables which affect the current social support available in the community. A structured survey was carried out with 161 adults over twenty years old who have an experience of encountering North Korean settlers in Daejeon Province. Final 134 cases were used in the analysis, excluding 27 responses that are identified as incomplete or inadequate cases. PASW Statistics 17.0 was utilized to conduct frequency analysis, descriptive statistics data analysis, t-test, correlation analysis, multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the analysis are summarized as follows. Findings from the multiple linear regression analysis showed varying degrees of effect the above mentioned variables on the social support. Demonstrating a statistical significance, cross-cultural adjustment skills were found to exert the most significant impact on the social support for North Korean settlers, followed by age, educational background, sense of social distance with North Korean settlers and frequency of contact with North Korean settlers. According to, higher levels of social support can be anticipated when the community members possess adequate cross-cultural adjustment skills, are older in their age, and have a sense of closeness toward and frequent contact with North Korean settlers.
