도덕과 ‘민주시민교육’을 위한 교과서 비교연구-2015 개정 도덕과와 사회과 교과서를 중심으로- (A Comparative Study of Textbooks for ‘Democratic Citizenship Education’ in the Moral Subject -Focusing on the moral textbook and the social studies textbook revised in 2015-)

초록

본 연구는 도덕과 ‘민주시민교육’을 위해 2015 개정 도덕과와 사회과 교육과정 및 교과서를 분석하고, 이를 통해 도덕과 민주시민교육의 방향을 탐색하였다. 두 교과의 민주시민교육목적과 내용을 분석하기 위해, 교육과정에서의 민주시민교육의 방향, 교과서에 표현된 민주시민교육의 주요 내용, 기술과 역량, 학생 학습 활동의 구성 등 4가지 측면에서 살펴보았다. 그 결과 민주시민교육의 목적 및 시민참여와 관련하여 두 교과 모두 공동체 의식 함양, 시민 주체로서 적극적 참여를 강조하고 있었으나, 민주시민으로서의 자질, 바람직한 시민상, 시민참여의 의의, 세계 시민의 의미와 자질 등 내용 요소 및 교육방법 구성에서는 도덕과에서 체계적으로 운영하고 있었다.
이러한 분석결과를 토대로 향후 도덕과에서의 체계적인 민주시민교육을 위해 ① 도덕 교과 내에서 추구하는 ‘시민상’ 정립, ② 학년군에 맞는 내용 요소의 체계화와 교수·학습자료의 효율적 구성, ③ 사회교과와의 융합교육 가능성 제고를 제안하였다. 차후 도덕과 교육과정 및 교과서 개정시 민주시민교육의 내용 요소 및 교육방법 구성에 참고할 수 있는 기초 연구로 작은 도움이 되기를 바란다.

영어초록

This study analyzed the moral and social studies curriculum and textbooks that were revised in 2015 for ‘democratic citizenship education’ in the moral subject, and explored the direction of democratic citizenship education in the moral subject through the foregoing. In order to analyze the purpose and content of democratic citizenship education in the two subjects, the two subjects were examined in four aspects: the direction of democratic citizenship education in the curriculum, the main content of democratic citizenship education expressed in the textbooks, skills and competencies, and the composition of students’ learning activities. According to the results, with regard to the purpose of democratic citizenship education and citizen participation, both subjects emphasized the promotion of community spirit and active participation as civic subjectivity, but the content elements such as the quality of democratic citizens, desirable citizenship, the significance of citizen participation, and the meaning and qualities of citizens of the world, etc. and the composition of educational methods were systematically operated in the moral subject.
Based on the results of analysis as such, for systematic democratic citizenship education in the morality subject hereafter, this study proposed ① the establishment of ‘citizenship' pursued within the moral subject, ② the systematization of content elements suitable for the grade groups and efficient organization of teaching and learning materials, ③ the enhancement of the possibility of convergence education with the social studies subject. It is hoped that this study will be a little helpful as a basic study that can be referred to in the composition of content elements of and educational methods for democratic citizenship education in future revisions of the moral curriculum and textbooks.
