전시컨벤션센터의 안전관리가 참관객의 안전행동과 향후 행동의도에 미치는 영향 -팬데믹을 중심으로- (The Effect of Safety Management of Exhibition and Convention Center on Visitors' Safety Behavior and Future Behavioral Intention -Focused on the Pandemic-)

초록

본 연구는 COVID-19상황 속에서 전시컨벤션센터를 방문한 참관객들이 전시컨벤션센터의 안전관리에 대해서 참관객들이 인지한 참여행동이나 순응행동 그리고 향후 행동의도를 살펴보고자 하였다. 전시컨벤션센터의 안전관리과 참관객의 안전행동 및 향후 행동의도에 대한 연구들은 많이 부족한 상황이다. 본 연구는 선행연구와 한국 및 글로벌 가이드라인에서 도출된 전시컨벤션센터의 안전관리의 세가지 핵심요인이 기본을 구성하며, 참관객의 안전행동과 향후 행동의도 간의 관계를 총 4개의 가설을 설정하여 실증분석을 실시하였다. 이를 위하여 팬데믹으로 인한 사회적 거리두기 기간 동안 전시장 참관객 250명을 대상으로 설문조사를 수집하였다.
수집된 데이터에 구조방정식 모델링을 적용한 결과 전시장 환경, 관람객 행동 통제, 안전 관리 안내라는 세 가지 주요 안전 관리 요인이 확인되었다. 분석 결과 전시장 안전환경과 안전 관리 안내는 참관객의 안전참여행동에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 반면, 참관객 안전행동통제는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났습니다. 그러나 행동 통제는 안전순응행동을 결정하는 데 유의미한 영향을 미쳤습니다. 마지막으로, 안전참여행동과 안전순응행동 모두 향후 행동 의도를 예측하는 유의미한 예측 변수로 밝혀졌습니다.
이 연구의 시사점은 참관객 안전 행동의 특성과 향후 의도를 밝혀 전시컨벤션센터 운영자가 안전 관리 전략과 재난 대응 프로토콜을 개선하는 데 유용한 지식을 제공할 수 있다는 점이다. 이 연구는 향후 코로나19 팬데믹과 같은 위기 상황에서 효과적인 참관객 유지 전략을 개발하는 데 도움이 될 것이다.

영어초록

This paper investigates the ramifications of COVID-19 on the exhibition industry, a sector pivotal for exchanging information and fostering economic development. In response to the pandemic, global trade shows have grappled with an abrupt halt, facing cancellations and postponements due to stringent measures and restrictions, severely impacting industries reliant on interpersonal interactions. This research focuses on safety and quarantine measures adopted by Korean exhibition and convention centers during COVID-19 and examines how these impact visitor behavior and intentions toward future attendance.
Three core elements of safety management derived from global and Korean guidelines form the basis of this study, which explores the relationship between these safety practices and the consequent safety participation and compliance behaviors of the visitors. Data for empirical analysis were collected through a survey of 250 visitors to exhibition centers during pandemic-related social distancing, with content validity confirmed through a pilot test conducted on graduate students specializing in Exhibition and Convention Management.
Structural equation modeling applied to the collected data identified three main factors of safety management: the exhibition hall environment, visitor behavior control, and safety management guidance. The findings indicate that the exhibition hall environment and safety management guide significantly influenced visitors' safety participation behaviors, whereas visitor behavior control did not. However, behavioral control was significant in determining compliance behavior. Lastly, both safety participation and compliance behaviors were found to be significant predictors of future behavioral intentions.
This study's insights reveal the nature of visitor safety behaviors and their future intentions, providing valuable knowledge for exhibition and convention center operators to enhance both the safety management strategies and disaster response protocols. It aims to aid in developing effective visitor retention strategies in the face of crises like the COVID-19 pandemic.
