구미호(九尾狐)로 상징된 여성 섹슈얼리티에 대한 남성의 경계와 거부 (Men's Boundaries and Denial of Women's Sexuality Symbolized by Fugitive)

초록

본고에서는 2008년 방영된 전설의 고향 <구미호>를 통해 우리 여성의 어두운 삶의 단면을 살폈다. 고전 모티프의 어떤 요소가 이야기에 수용되어 재구성되었는지, 그 속에서 여성을 어떻게 형상화되어 어떠한 의미를 전하는지를 밝히려고 하였다. 이에 여성과 여우 존재를 결부시켜 특징화한 결과가 구미호라고 보았다. 구미호는 여우와 여성의 양면성이 핵심으로, <여우누이>, <여우구슬>을 통해 여성을 여우로 상징화한 것에 대한 원인과 의미요소를 두루 살펴보았다.
<여우누이>에서는 오빠와 여동생의 관계를 경쟁관계로 설정하여, 그것이 의미하는 바를 다각도로 살펴보았다. 부모의 애정과 인정을 겨루다가 결국 여동생에게 진 결과로 집안에서 쫓겨나 결국 부모에게 바라는 인정과 욕구의 충족이 좌절되어 이 때문에, 그에 대한 공포로 여동생을 여우로 몰아갔다. 여우라는 규정은 남성 내면에 있는 무의식의 공포에서 기인한 것으로, 그 근원은 내면에 존재하기도 하고, 다른 사람의 관계로부터 자라나기도 한다. 또한, 착한 막내딸에게 여성성이 발현되는 순간, 이 여성은 구미호로 돌변하게 된다는 설정으로 여성성은 억압과 제거되어야 한다는 전통사회에서의 남성의 인식과 맞물린다는 점을 확인하였다. 즉, 여성성의 발현은 여성의 내적, 외적 성장을 의미하며, 성장한 여성은 여우가 되어, 남성과 한 세계에서 공존할 수 없으며 여전히 여성은 경계와 거부의 대상이 된다.
<여우 구슬>에서는 남성의 탐욕에 의해 희생당하는 여성으로 의미를 읽어내었다. 이야기에 등장하는 서당 아이와 여우인 여성을 남녀관계로 설정하여, 서당 아이의 배신으로 여우구슬을 빼앗긴 여성의 슬픈 마음을 짐작해 보았다. 여우구슬을 취한 덕분에 서당 아이는 이름을 떨치는 지관이 되었다는 설정은 여우구슬에는 인간의 욕망이 투영되어 있다는 것과 동시에 그 기저에 여성의 희생에 대해 말하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 여성의 희생을 합리화하고, 그로 인해 발생된 죄책감을 인정하지 않으려고 하는 남성의 인식과 태도를 알 수 있었다.
전설의 고향 <구미호(2008)>에서는 <여우누이>, <여우구슬>의 요소들이 수용되어 나타나고 있음을 확인하면서, 그 의미들이 어떤 방식으로 재구성되었는지 살펴보았다. 여성과 남성이 사는 세계의 구조적인 모순과 여성을 바라보는 남성의 시각을 확인하였다. 여기서 며느리는 남성의 대리자로서 존재하지만, 딸은 여우로 몰아 죽임을 당하는 존재로 인식된다는 점을 살폈다. 초경을 통해 여성성이 발현된 여성은 구미호로 몰려 죽임을 당하며, 구미호의 시신에서 ‘간, 피, 여우구슬’을 취하여 영생을 누리고, 가문의 결속을 다지는 남성의 왜곡된 인식과 행동 양상들을 살펴보았다. 이 이야기를 가부장적인, 남성 중심의 사회에서 희생당하는 여성의 이야기로 읽으며, 이 이야기를 통해 우리 여성의 삶을 보여주고, 남성이 보는 여성이 구미호 형상화되었으며, 구미호의 저주가 계속하여 대물림되고 있는 것이 무엇을 의미하는지를 파악하였다. 이에 구미호의 저주는 하나의 고유한 인격체로서 우리 사회에서 인정을 받고자 하는 여성의 몸부림이다.

영어초록

In this article, we looked at the cross section of our women 's dark life through the legendary hometown <Kumiho> which was aired in 2008. I tried to find out what elements of the classical motif were accepted and reconstructed in the story, and how they conveyed the meaning of the female in it. Therefore, the result of characterizing females and foxes by their existence is called fuzzy. It is the core of fox and women's duality, and the fox and the fox marveled over the cause and meaning of the symbolization of women as foxes.
In <Yoe Unui>, I set up the relationship between my brother and my sister as a competitive relationship, and I looked at various aspects of what it means. In the end, I was forced out of the house as a result of competing with my parents' affection and recognition, and eventually I was frustrated with the recognition and desire of my parents. The definition of a fox originates from the fear of unconsciousness within a male, whose source is both internal and external. Also, it was confirmed that when the female childhood is manifested in the good youngest daughter, this woman is changed to the fuzzy one, so that it is linked with the recognition of the male in the traditional society that the female sex should be suppressed and eliminated. In other words, the expression of femininity implies the internal and external growth of women, and the grown women can not coexist in a world with females as foxes, and still read as meaning that females are boundaries and objects of rejection.
In <Yoe Uguseul>, I read the meaning as a woman who is sacrificed by the greed of a man. I set up the girl of Seodang and the girl of fox in the story as a male-female relationship, and I guessed the sad heart of a woman who was robbed of fox beads by Seodang child's betrayal. Thanks to the taking of fox beads, SeoDang Ai became a name-shaking branch, which means that fox beads are reflecting human desire and at the same time they are talking about women's sacrifice. In addition, we were able to understand men's perceptions and attitudes to rationalize the sacrifice of women and not to recognize the guilt caused by them.
In the legendary hometown <Kumiho (2008)>, it was confirmed that the elements of <Yoe Unui> and <Yoe Uguseul> were accepted and appeared, and how the meanings were reconstructed. We have identified the structural contradictions of the world where women and men live and the perspective of men looking at women. Here the daughter-in-law is seen as a representative of the male, but the daughter is perceived as being killed by the fox. A woman who manifests femininity through menstruation is slain by the fugitive, and enjoys eternal life by taking "liver, blood, and fox ball" in the body of the fugitive, and sees distorted perceptions and behaviors of men saw. I read this story in the story of a woman who is sacrificed in a patriarchal, male-centered society. Through this story, we show the life of our woman, the woman the man sees is shaped like a fuzzy woman, and the curse of the fuzzy I understand what it means. The curse of Kumiho is confirmed as a struggle and sad story of women who want to be acknowledged in our society as a unique personality.
