모호성(模糊性)의 미적 특성을 통한 심미경계 표현 (Expressions of Aesthetic Boundary through Aesthetic Characteristic of Ambiguity)

초록

이 논문은 모호성을 기반에 둔 허와 실, 소여, 여백에 의해 비워둔 공간, 가상공간을 활용하여 제작한 작품을 토대로 연구자의 조형 언어를 분석하고자 한 것이다. 더 나아가 동양적 정신기반을 바탕에 두고 현대적 시각의 접목을 통해 새로운 자신만의 미감을 제시하고자 노력한 결과물이다. 즉 동양 철학의 주요 개념인 허실과 은현의 사유 맥락에 근거하여, 연구자의 작품 형식에서 드러나는 비가시적인 특징을 검토하고, 절제와 함축의 방식을 그 미적 특징으로 파악하였다. 이러한 서술 과정을 거쳐 검토된 특징은 현재 연구자가 추구하는 심미경계가 끊임없이 변화하는 실재 현상과 비가시적인 심리에 대한 관심에서 비롯되었다고 할 수 있다. 다시 말해 이러한 미학적 맥락을 중시하는 창작 의식으로 인해 연구자의 작품 형식에서 명료성보다는 모호성에 중점을 두게 된 근거로 판단된다.
연구자의 작품 형식에서 몽롱하게 보이는 자연 현상과 미적 대상은 심리적 환기의 대체물이며, 주로 익숙한 낯설음의 감성 내용을 드러내는 표현이다. 이는 현상과 가상의 경계가 모호한 탈경계적 사유, 그리고 연구자와 미적 대상과의 관계성에 대한 천착의 결과로 드러난 불확실하고 모호한 심미경계라고 말할 수 있다. 따라서 연구자 작품에 내재하는 예술적 맥락은 실재 현상과 가상의 경계, 감각적 소여의 심미 의식이 투영된 미적경계를 담아내는데 초점을 둔 것이다. 이렇듯 모호성이라는 미적 특징으로 분석된 연구자의 작품 형식은 작품에서 조형적 측면으로 드러나는 자연 현상과 구체적인 대상물이 단순히 재현된 형상이 아니며, 심미 주체의 심리적 여운이 투사된 상징적 표현물이라고 할 수 있겠다. 이 연구 과정은 직접적으로 작품의 의도를 드러내기보다 상징과 비유적 표현 방법으로 변화를 모색하게 된 계기가 되었으며 앞으로의 작업의 토대가 될 것으로 기대된다.

영어초록

This study is to analyze the figurative language based on my works utilized by emptying and filling(虛實), the given(所與), the empty and imaginary space built on ‘ambiguity’. Furthermore, it is the outcome of my effort to propose my own new aesthetic sense grafting oriental mental basis onto modern perspectives. In other words, invisible characteristics implied in my work forms are reviewed based on reasoning contexts with major Oriental philosophical concepts of emptying and filling and concealing and revealing(隱顯) and the aesthetic features are captured as ways of moderation and implication. Characteristics reviewed through this descriptive process represent that the aesthetic boundary I currently pursue is originated from interests in constantly changing actual condition and invisible psychological contents. In other words, creative consciousness that emphasizes this aesthetic context is regarded as a ground to put more focus on ambiguity than clarity in my work form.
Natural phenomenon and aesthetic objects that seem misty in the work’s form are substitutes of subject’s psychological refreshing and expressions for revealing emotions of familiar unfamiliarity. It is unclear and ambiguous aesthetic boundary revealed as a result of digging in non-boundary thinking where actual conditions and imagination are on ambiguous boundaries and of the relationship between aesthetic objects and I. therefore, is focused on expressing the boundary between actual conditions and imagination and the aesthetic boundary where the given aesthetic consciousness is projected. In my work form analyzed to have an aesthetic characteristic of ambiguity, actual condition in nature which is demonstrated in formative aspects on my work and concrete objects are not merely a shape of reproduction but a symbolic expression onto which an aesthetic subject’s psychological lingering imagery is projected. In the context of the psychological substitute, certain temporality and spatiality loses its meaning in the work. That is, the border of time and space is deconstructed on a screen built with imaginative images. therefore, Future directivity reviewed through this process would be seeking changes into symbolic and metaphorical expression methods rather than directly revealing work’s intention in work form and expanding meanings and contents connoted in work with moderate expression methods.
