여수시 무인도서 지형·지질의 교육적 활용방안 - 여수시 남면, 삼산면을 중심으로 - (Educational Application Plan of the Geomorphology·Geology in the Uninhabited Islands of Yeosu City - Focusing on Nam-myeon, Smasan-myeon -)

초록

이 연구는 전라남도 여수시 남면과 삼산면에 속하는 무인도서의 지형과 지질 특성을 조사하고, 이를 초등학교, 중학교, 고등학교 학생을 위한 지질 교육적 활용 방안을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 이 연구를 위하여 먼저 남면의 6개 섬(수항도, 오동도, 초삼도, 배다여, 알마도, 소알마도), 삼산면의 6개 섬(상섬, 밖목섬, 납대기, 대두역서, 소두기리섬, 코끼리바위)을 대상으로 지형과 지질을 조사하고, 이 결과를 초등학교 과학, 중학교 과학1, 고등학교 지구과학1 교과 지질단원의 학습내용을 분석하고 관련성을 분석하였다. 이 후, 무인도서의 지형과 지질 특성을 교수-학습에 활용하는 방안을 강구하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구지역 무인도서인 남면의 6개와 삼산면의 6개 섬의 해안지형은 대부분 해식절벽과 해식동굴이 발달하고 일부 섬은 파식대지, 시아치와 시스택이 발달한다. 또한 대부분의 무인도서의 해식절벽에는 풍화작용에 의한 타포니가 발달하고 있다. 연구지역 무인도서의 지질은 대부분 응회암으로 구성되며 일부 섬은 퇴적암과 안산암으로 구성되어 있다. 특징적인 지질구조로는 주상절리, 암맥, 단층, 층리, 절리 등이 발달한다. 둘째, 연구지역 무인도서 해안지형의 특징은 초등학교 과학의 지질단원 학습내용과 밀접한 연관성이 있다. 응회암, 주상절리, 암맥은 고등학교 지구과학1 지질단원 학습내용과 밀접한 연관성이 있다. 그리고 지층, 층리, 퇴적암, 안산암은 초등학교 과학, 중학교 과학1, 고등학교 지구과학1 지질단원 학습내용과 공통적으로 밀접한 연관성이 있다 셋째, 무인도서 지형, 지질에 관한 사진이나 동영상 자료를 제작하여 지질단원의 교수-학습에 활용하는 방안이다. 여수시 남면과 삼산면에 속한 무인도서의 지형과 지질은 독특한 특징을 지니고 있다. 이러한 지형과 지질현상을 사진이나 동영상으로 제작하여 학습 자료로 활용한다면 지역에 대한 학생들의 흥미와 호기심을 불러일으킬 뿐만 아니라 과학적 태도의 긍정적인 효과가 있을 것으로 본다. 또한 해양수산부 무인도서 종합시스템에서 제공하는 무인도서 지형 및 지질과 관련된 사진이나 동영상 자료는 학생들에게 해안 지형의 독특한 형성 및 변화과정과 지질구조의 특징을 이해할 수 있는 기회를 제공한다. 따라서 이러한 자료를 학교 현장에서 지질단원의 교수-학습에 활용하는 방안을 고려해 볼만하다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the geomorphological and geological characteristics of uninhabited islands belonging to Nam-myeon and Samsan-myeon, Yeosu-city, Jeollanam-do, and to suggest geological educational application plans for elementary, middle, and high school students. For this study, the topography and geology were first investigated on six islands in Nam-myeon (Suhangdo, Odongdo, Chosamdo, Baedayo, Almado, and Soalmado) and six islands in Samsan-myeon (Sang Island, Bagmok Island, Nabdaegi, Daeduyeokseo, Sodugiri Island, and Elephant bawi). In addition, the relationship between these results and the learning contents of the geological units of elementary school science, middle school science 1, and high school geoscience 1 was analyzed. The research results are as follows. First, most of the coastal topography of six islands in Nam-myeon and six islands in Samsan-myeon, which are uninhabited islands in the study area, develops sea cliffs and sea caves, and some islands develop wave-cut platforms, sea arches, and sea stacks. Moreover, taffoni is developed by weathering on the sea cliff of most uninhabited islands. The geology of uninhabited islands in the study area is mostly composed of tuff, and some islands are composed of sedimentary rocks and andesite rocks. Characteristic geological structures include columnar joints, dykes, faults, stratifications, and joints. Second, the characteristics of the coastal topography of uninhabited islands in the study area are closely associated with the learning contents of the geological unit of elementary school science. Tuffs, columnar joints, and dykes are closely related to the learning contents of the geological unit of high school geoscience 1. On top of that, stratum, stratification, sedimentary rocks, and andesite are closely related to the learning contents of the geological unit of elementary school science, middle school science 1, and high school geoscience 1. Third, it plans to produce visual materials such as photos or video with respect to the topography and geology of uninhabited islands and use them for teaching and learning of geological units. The topography and geology of uninhabited islands belonging to Nam-myeon and Samsan-myeon of Yeosu-city have unique characteristics. Suppose these topography and geological phenomena are produced with photos or videos and used as learning materials. In that case it will not only attract students' interest and curiosity about the region, but also positively effect on their scientific attitude. Furthermore, photos and video materials related to topography and geology of uninhabited islands provided by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries provide students with an opportunity to understand the unique formation and change process of coastal topography and the characteristics of geological structure. Therefore, it is worth actively considering how to use these materials for teaching-learning of geological units in the school field.
