대학생 소통 능력 향상을 위한 ‘소통과제’ 소개 및 결과물 사례 연구: 인천대학교 <자기표현과 의사소통> 교과목을 중심으로 (A Study on the Presentation Methods of ‘Communication Task’ and the Cases of Outcome for the Improvement of Communication Skills of University Students)

초록

목적 본 연구는 인천대학교 <자기표현과 의사소통> 수업에서 제시하는 ‘소통과제’를 소개하고, 수강생들이 제출한 소통과제 결과물과 설문조사를 통해 소통과제가 대학생들의 소통 능력에 어떤 도움이 되고 있는지 그 성과 및 의의를 밝히는 데 목적이 있다.
방법 2019년 2학기와 2020년 1, 2학기 <자기표현과 의사소통> 수강생들이 제출한 201편의 소통과제 결과물 중 정성평가 방법으로 사례를 선정하여, 형식과 내용으로 나누고, 내용은 처음-중간-끝으로 구분하여 불통의 원인, 감정 및 태도의 변화, 과제 후 느낀점을 분석하였다. 보조적으로 같은 수강생을 대상으로 2020년 8월 30일부터 12월 31일까지 Google 드라이브의 설문조사 프로그램을 이용해 ‘소통과제 만족도 조사’를 실시했고, 회신된 130명의 응답률을 통해 수강생들의 만족도 및 소견을 참조하였다.
결과 소통과제는 자신과 소통이 필요한 관계임에도 불구하고 소통이 잘 안 된다고 생각하는 한 사람과 소통을 시도해서 한 학기 동안그 사람과의 소통 과정 및 느낀 점을 리포트 형식으로 작성하는 과제이다. 학생들의 소통과제 결과물과 설문조사를 통해 드러난 소통과제의 성과 및 의의는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이론적 학습에 그칠 수 있는 소통의 개념 및 방법, 소통의 중요성 등을 학생들 스스로가일상에서 소통 대상과 직접 부딪히고 체감하면서 깨달을 수 있다는 점이다. 둘째, 타자에게 먼저 다가갈 수 있는 용기와 상대방과의갈등해결능력을 향상시키며, 경청과 칭찬, 작은 정성과 웃음, 나-전달법과 인정의 법칙 등으로 타인의 관점을 이해하고 상호 존중하며 타자와 연대하는 소통 능력을 증진시키는 데 도움을 주었다. 셋째, 소통 과정을 리포트로 작성하고 증거 자료를 삽입하는 과정에서 문서작성능력을 향상시키고, 소통 과정과 자기 내면의 감정 변화를 기록하는 성찰적 글쓰기로 대학생들의 진정한 내적 성장을도모해 주었다.
결론 본 연구 결과는 대학생의 종합적인 의사소통 능력을 함양시키기 위해 실질적이고 다양한 방법들이 요구되는 상황에서 대학교양교육의 방법이나 방향을 넓히는 동시에 학습자 중심의 교과 교육 연구에 일조할 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

Objectives This study aims to introduce the “communication system” presented in Incheon National University's “self-expression and communication” class, and to reveal the achievements and significance of communication tasks through the results and surveys submitted by students.
Methods Among the 201 results of communication tasks submitted by the students of “Self-Expression and Communication” in the second semester of 2019 and the first and second semesters of 2020, the case was selected as a qualitative evaluation method. A “Communication Satisfaction Survey” was conducted for the same students using the Google Drive survey program from August 30 to December 31, 2020, and the response rate of 130 respondents referred to their satisfaction and feedback.
Results The communication task is about attempting to communicate with a person who is regarded as having bad communication even in the relationship in need of communication with themselves, and then writing a report on the communication process with the relevant person and feelings during a semester. The performance and significance of communication task are as follow. First, the students realized the concept, methods, and importance of communication which could be simply regarded as theoretical learning, by directly facing and experiencing the target of communication in daily life. Second, it was helpful for improving the courage to approach the other first, an ability to solve conflicts with the counterpart, and communication skills through mutual under standing/respect and solidarity by using the intent listening, praise, small sincerity, laugh, I-message, and the law of recognition. Third, the process of writing a report on the communication process and inserting evidential mate rials improved their abilities to write documents while the reflective writing to record the communication process and their internal emotional changes promoted the true internal growth of university students.
Conclusions The results of this study will help broaden the methods or directions of university liberal arts education at a time when practical and diverse methods are required to foster comprehensive communication skills of university students, while helping to study learner-centered curriculum.
