북한 인문학 데이터 아카이브와 디지털 인문학 교육: 빅데이터 혁신융합대학 교과목 개발을 중심으로 (North Korean Humanities Data Archive and Digital Humanities Education)

초록

이 글은 북한 인문학 데이터 아카이브를 설계·구축한 논리와 이를 매개로 진행한 디지털인문학 교육 경험을 정리한 것이다.
첫째, 북한 인문학 데이터 아카이브는 학술 정보가 내포한 입체적 성격과 그것들 사이의복잡한 지식 관계망을 효과적으로 표현하기 위해, 시맨틱 데이터 프로세싱(SemanticData Processing) 방법론에 근거하여 설계·구축하였다.
둘째, 서울대학교 인문대학은 교육부의 혁신융합대학 사업의 일환으로 디지털 인문학 교육 과정을 개설·운영하고 있는데, 그 가운데 ‘빅데이터 역사정보’ 과정의 하나로 ‘시맨틱 데이터 편찬’ 교과를 도입·개설하였다.
셋째, ‘시맨틱 데이터 편찬’ 교과 강의는 북한 인문학 데이터 아카이브와 연계하여 운용함으로써, 북한 인문학 및 한국 근대사에 관한 도메인 지식과 디지털 인문학 방법론인 시맨틱 데이터 처리를 동시에 익히는 융합교육이 가능하도록 했다.
넷째, ‘시맨틱 데이터 편찬’ 교과의 수강생은 웹 환경에서 북한 인문학과 한국 근대사에 관한 지식을 다룸으로써, 아날로그 환경에서 지식을 소비하는 수동적 입장에서 벗어나 디지털 환경에서 지식을 생산·유통하는 능동적 경험을 할 수 있었다. 아울러 북한 학계가 통시적-공시적으로 지식의 국제적 네트워크 속에 존재함을 확인하고 냉전과 분단 상황에서 전개된 북한 인문학의 특수성을 이해할 수 있었다.

영어초록

This article summarizes the experience of creating the North Korean Humanities Data Archive(NKHDA) and using it as a platform for digital humanities education. The relevant information is organized in four parts.
First, the North Korean Humanities Data Archive(NKHDA) was designed and created based on the Semantic Data Processing methodology to effectively represent the three-dimensional nature of academic information and the complex network of knowledge network between them.
Second, as part of the Ministry of Education's Innovative Convergence University project, the College of Humanities at Seoul National University(SNU) has established and operated digital humanities education courses. Among them, 'Semantic Data Compilation' was introduced and launched as a part of the 'Big Data Historical Information' curriculum.
Third, the course 'Semantic Data Compilation' is operated in conjunction with the North Korean Humanities Data Archive(NKHDA). The course is designed to provide students with domain knowledge on North Korean humanities and modern Korean history, as well as semantic data processing as a digital humanities methodology.
Fourth, by accessing knowledge about North Korean humanities and Korean modern history on the web, students taking the 'Semantic Data Compilation' course are able to move from a passive position of consuming relevant knowledge in the analog environment to an active experience of producing and distributing humanities knowledge in the digital environment. In addition, students are able to see that North Korean academia exists in an international network of knowledge, both synchronously and publicly, and understand the specificity of North Korean humanities as it developed in the context of the Cold War and the division of Korea.
