통합교육의 관점에서 본 유아교사 양성교육과정:장애유아 관련 교과목 분석 (An analysis of early childhood education courses related to children with disabilities - With a view to the implementation of inclusive education -)

초록

본 연구는 우리나라 유아교사 양성교육과정에서 장애유아 관련 교과목을 분석하여 그 교육적 실제를 살펴봄으로써 통합교육 현장에서 지식을 창출할 수 있는 예비유아교사를 양성하는 데에 기초적인 자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 자료 수집은 먼저 전국 96개 대학의 유아교육과 교육과정에서 장애유아 관련 교과목의 실태분석을 위해 개설 교과목 수, 개설된 교과목의 유형을 조사하였고, 33개 대학의 46개 장애유아 관련 교과목의 교수계획표에 제시되어 있는 교육목표, 교육내용, 교수방법 및 평가방법을 분석하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 대부분의 대학에서는 장애유아 관련 교과목을 1과목 이상 개설하고 있었으며, 통합교육 관련 교과목보다는 특수교육 및 장애유아 이해 과목이 개설되고 있었다. 둘째, 장애유아 관련 교과목의 교수 목표 및 교육내용은 방법적 지식보다는 명제적 지식 습득을 강조하고 있었으며 셋째, 교수방법은 강의가 일반적이었으며 현장실습 및 실습 중심의 체험적 교수방법은 부분적으로 이루어지고 있었다. 이러한 결과에 대한 교육적 시사점을 논의하였다.

영어초록

This study examined the courses related to children with disabilities in early childhood preservice curriculums (ECPC) in order to provide a desirable direction for curriculum reform. We collected curriculum from 96 departments of early childhood education and then investigated the actual classrooms and conditions in which the classes related to children with disabilities were taught. After that, we collected 46 syllabi for such courses from 33 colleges and analyzed their educational objectives/ contents and teaching/assessing methodology.
Based upon the results of the analysis, courses related to children with disabilities were opened in most early childhood preservice curriculum and the new courses included an introduction to special education, a theory of counseling and theory and skills of intervention/therapy. We were able to discern that the contents of the courses were outlined in the introduction based on the following: 71.7% of the ECPC opened 1 to 2 courses related to children with disabilities. We suggest extending the number of courses dealing with children’s disabilities and increasing the lessons in these courses in order to teach preservice teachers the requisite knowledge and skills for practicing inclusive education. We also found that the courses we examined focused more on outcome rather than process, and that course objectives and content emphasized propositional knowledge. As well, these outcome-centered aims focused on increasing information, excluded affective aspects such as encouraging interest in learning and presenting the knowledge acquired. Instead, knowledge gained was to be tested with paper and pen. We suggest envisioning and developing more appropriate educational aims, objectives, contents and teaching/assessing methods.
