경영학 발전을 위한 미래학 교과목 융합 제안 (The Introduction of Futurology Subjects for the Improvement of Business Administration)

초록

경영학은 대학 입시에서 인기 학과이고, 취업을 위해 많은 학생들이 복수전공으로 경영학을 선택하고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 각 대학들이 경영전문대학원(MBA)에 큰 투자를 하는 등 최근 경영학의 인기는 매우 높다. 하지만 경영학에 대한 비판들도 증가하고 있다. 시대적 상황은 빠르게 변해왔지만, 경영학은 기존의 틀과 시야 속에서 안주하고 있다고 한다. 여러 학문들을 받아들여 탄생하고 성장한 경영학은 최근 들어 정체되어 있고, 기업이 당면한 현실적 문제를 해결하는 테 큰 힘을 보태지 못하고 있다. 그래서 본 연구에서는 경영학의 현실을 돌아보고, 경영학이 가진 한계점을 극복하기 위한 한 방안으로 경영학이 다른 학문과 융합해야 한다고 주장하였다.
먼저 경영학과 공학과의 접목을 살펴보았다. 정보기술에 대한 이해와 활용이 기업경영의 필수적인 요소가 되었고, 1990년 대 이후의 경영이론들은 대부분 정보기술 활용을 전제로 한 이론들이었다. 그래서 경영정보(MIS)가 경영학 학부 및 대학원의 전공으로 자리 잡게 되었다. 인문학과 예술 분야는 기존 경영학이 가지는 시야의 한계성을 극복하기 위해 주로 특강이나 단기 코스 형태로 도입되었다. 특히 최고경영자를 대상으로 한 인문학 강좌, 예술 작품 강좌 등이 인기가 많다.
이들 학문 외에 경영학의 변화를 위해 본 연구에서는 미래학과의 융합을 제안하였다. 우선 미래학의 기원과 본질, 한계에 대해 설명하였다. 미국과 유럽에서는 미래학을 별도의 학문으로 간주하여 대학원 석사․박사의 과정을 두고 있기도 하고, 학부에서는 필수과목으로 지정된 대학이 많다. 미래학이 독립된 학문으로 인식되지 않고 있는 국내 대학의 여건을 고려할 때, 미래학의 몇몇 기본적 교과목들을 경영학 교육과정에 포함시키는 것이 가장 실천 가능한 방안이라 생각된다. 미래학 개론, 미래 예측론, 미래와 기술, 미래 환경의 이해, 미래 성장 산업론, 미래 프로젝트, 미래워크샵 등의 교과목이 고려될 수 있을 것이다.
국내에서 미래예측에 관한 일반 대중들의 관심이 매우 뜨겁고 관련 서적도 수백 권이 넘지만, 이를 학문적 영역으로 끌어들여 체계적인 연구가 이루어지지 않고 있는 점이 유감이다. 미래라는 같은 방향을 보고 있다는 점에서 미래학과 경영학은 유사점이 많다. 미래학을 경영학에 도입함으로써 미래에 대한 체계적인 연구가 가능하고, 오늘날의 경영학이 받고 있는 비판들을 상당 부분 극복할 수 있다고 생각한다.

영어초록

Business studies is a very popular major at university. Many students consider job prospects when choosing this subject as one of their double majors. Not only that, but every university greatly invests in MBAs indicating the recent popularity of business studies. However, there are growing criticisms of business administration. Although circumstances have been changed rapidly, the framework and perspective of business studies have remained the same. Business studies, created and developed by integrating various fields, hasn't contributed to addressing the real problems faced by companies. Therefore, this research looks at the current reality of business studies and argues that the subjects must be converged with other studies in such a way as to overcome the limitations of present curricula.
Firstly, convergence between engineering subjects and business studies was investigated. The understanding and utilization of information technology(IT) became essential elements of corporate management. Post 1990, business theories have been grounded in the utilization of IT. Therefore, management information studies (MIS) became more established as an undergraduate and graduate major. The humanities and arts were mainly introduced in the form of short-term courses and special lectures to overcome limitations in the traditional perspective of business studies. Humanities courses and art classes targeting CEOs are especially popular.
In addition to these studies, this research suggests convergence with future studies to promote changes in business studies. Firstly, the origin, nature, and limitations of future studies were explained. In the United States and Europe, future studies is regarded as a separate study and master's and doctorate degree courses are offered. At the undergraduate level, many colleges mandate the study of future studies. Future studies is not recognized as an independent study in Korean universities, so included of its basic curriculum in business studies courses is thought to be the most practical teaching method. Introduction of future studies, future forecasting studies, future and technology, understanding of future environment, future growth industries studies, and future workshop may be considered as possible subjects for a curriculum.
Public interest in future forecasting is very high in Korea, and there are hundreds of books related to this subject. However, no systematic approach which identifies future studies as a specific field exists, which is unfortunate. Future studies and business studies have many similarities from the perspective of how they view the future. Through the introduction of future studies to business studies, it will be possible to systematically study the future. In this way it is thought that business studies may overcome much of the criticism it is current experiencing.
