정신장애인 동료운영서비스제공자의 임파워먼트 경험에 관한 개념도 연구: 동료지원센터를 중심으로 (Concept Mapping of the Empowerment Experiences of Peer-run Service Providers with Mental Illnesses: Focus on Peer Support Centers)

초록

연구문제 또는 목적: 본 연구의 목적은 혼합연구방법인 개념도 방법을 활용하여 동료지원센터에 근무하는 정신장애인 동료운영서비스 제공자의 임파워먼트 경험을 탐색하고, 이를 바탕으로 동료운영서비스제공경험을 통한 임파워먼트의 주요개념을 도출하고, 동료지원센터의 확대와 발전방향을 제시하는 것에 있다. 연구방법: 본 연구는 서울시 조례에 의거해 운영중인 동료지원센터에 근무하는정신장애인 12명을 대상으로 하였다. 우선, 개별심층면접을 진행하였으며, 95개의 최종 진술문을도출하였다. 이후 연구참여자들이 최종진술문의 유사성 분류 및 중요도 평정을 직접 실행하였다. 이후 집단 유사성 행렬표를 생성하여, 다차원 척도 분석(ALSCAL)과 위계적 군집분석을 활용하여 개념도 지도를 완성하였다. 연구결과: 동료지원센터에 근무하는 정신장애인 동료운영서비스제공자의 임파워먼트 경험의 차원은 2차원으로 변화와 지향 차원, 미시와 거시 차원으로 구성되었다. 군집은 각각 ‘경험전문가로서의 전인적 성장’, ‘당사자의 동반자로서의 상호지원’, ‘당사자 특성을 반영한 탁력적 운영’, ‘주도적인 동료지원의 기틀 마련’, ‘정신장애인 회복의 대안’, ‘적극적인 권익옹호의 장’, ‘사회운동을 통한 의미 발견’으로 명명되었다. 최종진술문의 내용별 중요도 평균은 4.05점, 군집별중요도평균은 정신장애인 회복의 대안(군집5)이 4.34점으로 중요도평균이 가장 높았다. 결론 또는시사점: 동료지원센터에 근무하는 정신장애인은 미시적, 거시적 임파워먼트를 경험하고 있었으며, 이는 동료지원가의 임파워먼트 증진을 위한 동료지원센터의 향후 방향성을 제시하였다. 이를 바탕으로 동료지원센터의 확대와 발전방향과 정신장애인 동료운영서비스제공자의 임파워먼트를 위한 실천적, 정책적 제언을 하였고, 연구의 의의와 한계를 제시하였다.

영어초록

Purpose 또는 Objectives: The objective of this study is to investigate the empowerment experiences of peer-run service providers with mental illnesses within peer support centers.
Utilizing a mixed-methods concept mapping approach, the study aims to derive key concepts of empowerment from the experiences of these individuals and to propose directions for the expansion and development of peer support centers. Method: The research was conducted with twelve individuals diagnosed with mental illnesses, all employed at a peer support center operating under the Seoul Metropolitan Government's ordinance. Individual in-depth interviews were conducted, yielding 95 final statements. Participants classified these statements by similarity and assessed their importance. The resultant group similarity matrix facilitated the completion of the concept map through Multidimensional Scale Analysis (ALSCAL) and hierarchical cluster analysis.
Results: The dimensions of empowerment experience of peer-run service providers with mental illnesses working in peer support centers were composed of two dimensions: change and orientation, and micro and macro dimensions. The clusters were named as ‘holistic growth as an expert in experience’, ‘mutual support as companions for individuals with mental illness’, ‘flexible operation based on the characteristics of individuals with mental illness’, ‘establishing a foundation for proactive peer support’, ‘an alternative to recovery for people with mental illnesses’, ‘a place for active advocacy’, and ‘finding meaning through social movements’, respectively. The mean importance of each final statement was 4.05, and the mean importance of each cluster was 4.34, with ‘an alternative to recovery for people with mental illnesses(cluster 5)’ having the highest mean importance. Conclusion 또는 Implications: People with mental illnesses working in peer support centers experienced micro and macro empowerment, which suggested future directions for peer support centers to enhance the empowerment of peer supporters. Based on this, practical and policy implications for the development of peer support centers and the empowerment of peer-run service providers with mental illnesses were suggested, and the significance and limitations of the study were presented.
