초록

제2공화국 시기 대구는 2대악법반대투쟁과 평화통일운동이 활발하게 진행된 대표적인 지역이었다. 대구경북의 통일운동 단체들은 한국사회의 가장 근본적이고본질적인 문제를 ‘통일’로 인식하여 한국전쟁 이후 최대 규모의 통일운동 조직인‘민족자주통일협의회’ 결성에 큰 조력을 하였다. 경북민통련, 민민청경북도맹, 경북통민청 조직이 대표적이다.
‘반독재’와 ‘통일’ 의제는 민족적 정서와 사회문제의 해결이라는 차원에서 당시중요한 문제였다. 지역에 밀착한 주제는 아님에도 불구하고 당시 대구지역이 보여준 폭발적인 통일운동의 전개는 대구지역이 가진 진보적 역사성에 기인한다고 본다. 또한 민민청경북도맹의 활동가들은 대구를 통일운동에서 중요한 지역으로 만든 주요한 인적 자원이었다. 무엇보다 제2공화국 시기 민민청경북도맹이 중심이되어 민민청과 통민청의 활동가들이 만든 인적 네트워크 형성은 6-70년대 한국민주화운동을 담당한 세력이 형성되었음을 의미한다. 그러므로 제2공화국시기 대구지역 사회운동의 연구는 지역사 연구에 기여할 뿐만 아니라 한국 민주주의 운동사를 이해하는 데 큰 의미가 있다.

영어초록

The following is a research on the political democratization and unification movement of the North Gyeongsang region including Daegu during the Second Republic. Daegu is a key region where the Fight against the Two Unjust Laws and peaceful unification movement actively took place. The supporters of the unification movement later contributed greatly to the establishment of the ‘Nation Independence Unification Committee,’ nation's largest post-Korean War unification movement group. North Gyeongsang Nation Unification Alliance, North Gyeongsang Democracy Nation Youth Alliance and North Gyeongsang Unification Nation Youth Alliance are representative organizations. In particular, the Democracy Nation Youth Alliance, which included the North Gyeongsang Democracy Nation Youth Alliance and the activists of Unification Nation Youth Alliance, a youth organization, were responsible for the actual management of the ‘Nation Independence Unification Committee.’ Yet, the details of their campaign are merely introduced as part of unification movement of the Second Republic, with no separate research done on the topic. ‘Anti-dictatorship’ and ‘Unification’ were important issues considering the spirit of the people and solving social problems. Although the topic is not closely related to the region itself, the explosive growth of unification movements in Daegu was largely due to the progressive history of the region. In addition, the activists of the North Gyeongsang Democracy Nation Youth Alliance were crucial human resources that made Daegu an important region in the unification movement. Above all, the human network established by the activists of the Democracy Nation Youth Alliance and Unification Youth Alliance, centering around the North Gyeongsang Democracy Nation Youth Alliance during the Second Republic meant that it later became the force behind Korea's democratic movement during the 1960-70s. Therefore, research on the social movement of Daegu during the Second Republic not only contributes to the research on the region's history but also conveys a significant meaning in understanding the history of Korea's democratic movements.
