Foreign aid is crucial to Ethiopia's food security efforts, supporting vulnerable populations and reducing poverty through interventions like the Productive Safety Net Program.
The study investigates the effectiveness of foreign aid on food security. It focuses on the efficacy of productive safety net programs (PSNPs) in rural communities as well as food insecurity. The study involved the selection of 580 families. The tool was intended to provide questionnaires and combine additional methods such as focus group discussion and key informant interviews.
PSNP's effectiveness was considerably impacted by the householder's age and education and the occurrence of shocks. The absence of monitoring and assessment, low payments and insufficient recipient knowledge hindered the practice of PSNP. Enhanced management and monitoring of the locally constructed community development infrastructures, to ensure that the positive role of the PSNP, the culture of savings and asset accumulation, participation of beneficiary households in diversified livelihood strategies to build assets, target and minimize inaccurate inclusion and exclusion and management.
In order to synchronize newly approves social protection policy and to aid PSNP program harmonization and a greater impact on households, policymakers and development practitioners recommended to involve in resilience measurement to improve rural livelihood.
