인공지능 챗봇 활용 초등영어 말하기 수업에 대한 질적 메타분석 (Qualitative Meta-analysis of Elementary English Speaking Classes using Artificial Intelligence Chatbots)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 챗봇 활용 초등영어 말하기 수업의 질적 자료를 종합적으로 분석함으로써 챗봇초등영어 수업 개선을 위한 수업요소들을 파악하는 것이다. 이러한 연구 목적을 위해 최근 4년간 국내에서 이루어진 챗봇 활용 영어수업 논문을 RISS와 DBpia 데이터 베이스를 검색하고 포함과 배제의 원칙을 적용하여 질적 메타분석 용 최종 연구물 6편을 선정하였다. 개별 연구물 분석 단계에서는각 연구물의 주제, 연구 키워드, 연구결과, 연구문제를 분석하였다. 또한 개별 연구물간의 내용 분석을 하여 챗봇 영어 수업에 영향을 주는 수업요소 5가지를 도출하였다. 이 수업요소는, 테크놀러지에대한 신기효과의 소멸 문제, 챗봇의 음성 인식 기능, 입력언어로서의 챗봇의 언어 수준 및 학습자 오류에 대한 피드백 지원, 챗봇 기반의 교수⋅학습 활동 설계, 학습자 수준 반영 활동 개발 등이었다.
이외에도 챗봇 활동을 지원하고 모니터링 하는 학습 관리 시스템과의 연동, 활동 시 집단 구성의 문제등이 수업의 효과성을 위해 고려해야 될 요소로 파악되었다. 2025년부터 적용되는 2022 개정 교육과정은 영어수업에서 디지털 도구 사용을 적극 권장하고 있다. 영어 의사소통 능력 함양은 물론 디지털리터러시 개발을 위해 인공지능 기술의 편리함을 언어교육에 접목하는 것은 매우 의미 있는 일이다.
본 연구는 국내 6편의 초등영어 챗봇 수업과 관련된 질적 자료를 포함한 연구만으로 이루어져 연구에서 제안된 수업 운영 시 고려될 요소가 초등영어 챗봇 수업의 대표적인 문제로 단정 짓기에는 한계가있다. 후속 연구로 국내외 초등학교 대상 영어 말하기 용 챗봇을 적용한 연구로 확대되어야 하며 본연구에서 도출된 5가지 수업요소를 적용한 수업 모형 개발 연구가 이어질 것으로 기대된다.

The purpose of this study is to identify class elements for improving chatbot elementary English classes by comprehensively analyzing the qualitative data of elementary English speaking classes using chatbots. By comprehensively analyzing the qualitative data of elementary English speaking classes using chatbots, the study tried to identify class elements for improving chatbot elementary English classes. For this research purpose, six final studies for qualitative meta-analysis were selected by searching the RISS and DBpia databases for chatbot assisted English class conducted in Korea over the past four years and applying the principles of inclusion and exclusion. At the stage of individual research analysis, the subject of each research study, research keywords, research results, and research problems were analyzed. In addition, by analyzing the contents of individual studies, five class elements that influence chatbot English classes were derived. Factors that influence chatbot English lessons include The elements of this lesson were the problem of the disappearance of the novel effect on technology, the voice recognition function of the chatbot, the language level of the chatbot as an input language, the feedback support for learner errors, the design of teaching and learning activities based on the chatbot, and the development of activities that reflect the learner level.
In addition, linkage with the learning management system that supports and monitors chatbot activities and problems with group composition during activities were identified as factors to be considered for the effectiveness of classes. The 2022 revised curriculum, which will take effect in 2025, strongly encourages the use of digital tools in English classes. It is very meaningful to incorporate the convenience of artificial intelligence technology into language education in order to develop English communication skills and digital literacy. This study consists only of studies that include qualitative data related to 6 elementary English chatbot classes in Korea, so it is not possible to conclude that the factors to be considered in the operation of the classes proposed in the study are representative problems of elementary English chatbot classes. As a follow-up study, it was expanded to a study that applied chatbots for English speaking to elementary schools in Korea and overseas. It is expected that the study of the development of a lesson model that applies the five elements of instruction derived from this study will continue.
