초록

본고는 마해송의 <바위나리와 아기별>에 대한 선행연구들이 이 작품이 자전적 작품이라는 사실 때문에 ‘바위나리(순) - 아기별(마해송) - 옥황상제(아버지)’라는 강박적 도식에서 갇혔던 한계를 극복하려고 노력했다. 이를 위해 근대라는 시대정신의 산물이자 증상으로서 마해송의 삶이라는 층위의 텍스트와 <바위나리와 아기별>이라는 문학층위의 텍스트를 함께 고찰해야 한다는 문제의식에서 출발하여 마해송의 아동에 대한 생각, 그리고 아동문학관 등을 살펴보았다.
2장에서는 전근대적 아동관과 비교하여 마해송이 요구하는 아동은 가부장적 규범의 강요에 따라 가문의 대를 잇는 것과는 달리 새로운 근대적 사회를 이끌어갈 사회적 주체로서의 어린이라는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다.
3장에서는 자전적 사실 중에서 마해송의 ‘결혼’과 근대 여성 ‘순’과의 연애사건을 바탕으로 마해송의 연애사건은 사랑의 열병을 앓았다기보다는 시대적ㆍ사회적 분위기인 ‘근대’를 않았던 것이었으며, 이것이 작품의 의미 확장에 기여하고 있는 사실을 알 수 있었다.
4장에서는 <바위나리와 아기별>이 가지는 문학적 고유성에 주목하면서 전근대를 벗어나 근대를 지향하는 마해송의 의식과 무의식이 바위나리ㆍ아기별ㆍ옥황상제 등으로 형상화 되는 과정을 분석했다. 특히 <바위나리와 아기별>의 크로노토프와 인물 분석을 통해 <바위나리와 아기별>의 시공간과 인물이 갖는 관련성을 살펴보았다.
바흐친의 크로노토프적 관점에서 볼 때 <바위나리와 아기별>의 시공간적 특성, 즉 아무것도 없는 공간, 무의미한 시간의 반복 등은 전근대에 대한 철저한 단절의식에서 기인한다는 것을 확인할 수 있다.
인물 분석을 통해서는 바위나리를 근대성으로, 아기별을 근대 지향적 주체로, 옥황상제를 전근대성으로 의미를 확장할 수 있는 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.
<바위나리와 아기별>은 마해송의 연애담인 동시에 아동에 대한 사랑, 즉 아동관을 드러내는 작품이며 전근대와 단절하고 근대를 지향하려는 담론이다.
<바위나리와 아기별>은 마해송의 처녀작임에도 불구하고, 이후에 발표한 민족주의 경향의 다른 작품들과의 뚜렷한 차별성을 고려할 때, 마해송의 아동문학관을 밝혀주는 메타적인 특성을 갖는 중요한 작품이라고 할 수 있다.

영어초록

The Children book, 「Bawuinari and the Little Star」 is the first work of the author, Ma Hae-Song. In this paper, I tried to analyze 「Bawuinari and the Little Star」 in relation to the writer’s biography. In addition, I considered the hidden inner-meaning of the work carefully, focusing on not determinism but the change of literature variety.
I departed from the simple scheme, Bawuinari(Soon)-The Little Star(Ma Hae-Song)-The King(His father), and regarded the writer’s life itself which is resource of the book’s creativity as the text of modern discourse. I went beyond the explanation coming from inflexible insight and made an effort to expand an argument, and looked into his value in children and children literary view.
In the second chapter, I looked into how different the birth process of the children in the modern era is from the ones in tradition with the perspective of Joseph L. Zornado, who saw children literature and children culture in a broad perspective as the history of human relations.
In a broad sense, the children in tradition are a preparatory stage to succeed and bad adults acting improperly. The ideology in the parents’ love in pre-modern era is the law to make children adults who acts properly. And the children who are forced to follow this law are just similar to slaves thoroughly. Regardless of it, however, the modern children who are represented by Children’s Day are the ones who find their roles in society, having horizontal characteristic.
In the third chapter, I searched ‘Soon’, who is the lover and wife of Ma Hae-Song in reality.
The author presented that the reason he couldn’t love Ms. Kim, who were married with him earlier, was the scaring dream through his essays called 「The beautiful dawn」 and 「The pyeonpyeon」 so on. The dream is interconnected with traditional superstition. As a result of analyzation, a deny for Ms. Kim is equal to a deny for the superstition, namely pre-modern.
After that, I focused on the lover ‘Soon’, who Ma Hae-song loved so much. She is a teacher in elementary school and seems to be a modern person compared with her appearance and life style. He lives in modern style, enjoying the dating such as having some coffee and reading western literature with her. ‘Soon’ is not only the lover, but also a symbol of the modern which he seeks out.
In the fourth chapter, I studied how the process that both of consciousness and unconsciousness of Ma Hae-Song, who aims the modern away from the premodern are figured to people like Bawuinari, The Little Star, and the King coming from premodern to modern, focusing on uniqueness of 「Bawuinari and the Little Star」. Especially, with a chronograph of 「Bawuinari and the Little Star」 and characters in the book, I examined inevitability between spatial-temporal and the characters in 「Bawuinari and the Little Star」.
As a result, I could find out the follow things.
「Bawuinari and the Little Star」 is the work showing the love for children namely the viewpoint on children, and the argument going for the modern from the premodern as well as Ma Hae-Song’s love story. When The Little Star is compared with his real life, he is the one changing his identity from the tradition to the modern.
Considering that although this book is his first work, it is distinctly different from other books of nationalism which were published later, it has the feature lighting Ma Hae-Song’s viewpoint on Children literature
