초록

In recent, building skin remodeling has been being scrutinized more closely as a sustainable alternative for achieving the benefits of improving a buildings energy performance. As such, remodeling method using high-performed building skin systems has been explored widely, and subsequently double-skin facade remodeling method has been paid attention due to its various merits. However, there has been no research on analyzing economic performance of the double-skin facade remodeling work, while the energy saving effects due to installation of double-skin facade system have been focused on the previous research. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the economic benefits of the remodeling projects adopting double-skin facade system. For achieving this objective, four remodeling alternatives created by combining double-skin facade installation conditions were analyzed in terms of economic performance by using life cycle cost analysis concept, in order to identify how the double-skin facade remodeling is cost-effective compared to the original building. It is expected that the results can help the project owners, who have a plan to remodel their buildings using double-skin facade system, making a reasonable decision.
