한국의 주요산업 성장률이 기업보험의 성장률에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (On the Influence of Growth Rate of Major Industries to that of Commercial Insurance in Korea)

초록

본 연구는 기업보험의 종목별 보험성장률이 특정산업의 성장률과 수입 등의 경제변수에 의해 어떤 영향을 받는지 벡터오차수정모형(Vector Error Correction Model: VECM) 모형을 이용하여 분석하였다. 우리나라의 기업보험은 일반적으로 전통적인 화재, 해상, 특종보험으로 분류하고 있으나 본 연구에서는 특종보험을 재물보험과 배상책임보험으로 구분하여 각 산업이 전체 GDP에서 차지하는 가중치를 고려한 성장률이 각 기업보험종목에 어떤 영향을 주는지 분석하였다. 화재보험성장률의 경우 예상과는 달리 제조업의 성장과는 통계적으로 유의하지 않은 관계를 보이고 농어업 그리고 서비스산업과 수입의 성장률과 양(+)의 관계를 보이고 있다. 해상보험은 농어업부문의 성장률에 정(+)의 영향을 받은 것으로 나타났으며 제조업의 성장률과는 음(-)의 관계를 보이고 있다. 특종보험 중 배상책임보험의 성장률은 농어업부문과 수입규모의 성장과 음(-)의 관계를 보이는 반면 제조업과의 성장률과 양(+)의 관계를 보이고 있으며 예상과는 달리 서비스산업의 성장률과는 통계적으로 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 배상책임의 성장은 사회의 법제도 규제 등에 영향을 받을 수 있는 가능성이 많아 여러 가지 규제가 많이 따르는 제조업의 성장이 서비스 산업의 성장보다 더 밀접한 관련이 있는 것으로 해석할 수 있다. 재물보험의 경우 농어업의 성장이 가장 큰 양(+)의 영향을 미치며 수입, 제조업, 서비스업의 성장률과 음(-)의 관계를 보이고 있다.

영어초록

This study employs VECM(vector error correction model) to analyze which industry’s growth and economic variables affect the growth of each commercial lines of business in Korea. We traditionally classify commercial lines of business simply into fire insurance, marine insurance, and the special lines of insurance that include both property and liability insurance in Korea. This study decomposes the special lines of insurance into commercial property insurance and commercial liability insurance. We used weighted growth rate of every dependent and independent variables to analyze the impacts of major industry’s growth on that of each lines of commercial insurance business. We find that fire insurance growth rate shows a significant relationship to the growth of manufacturing industry which is different from our expectation while shows positive relationships with the growth of agriculture-fishery industry and service industry, and that of import business. Marine insurance growth rate has positive relationships to the growth of agriculture-fishery industry but shows negative relationship to the growth rate of manufacturing industry. Liability insurance growth rate is heavily positively related to the growth of manufacturing industry but, different from our expectation, shows no significant relationship to the growth rate of service industry. If we admitted that liability insurance possibly be influenced by legal system and regulation of a society and also that manufacturing industry should comply with more regulations and requirement, liability insurance growth rate will show a positive relationship to the growth of manufacturing rather than service industry. Commercial property insurance growth has a positive relationship to that of agriculture-fishery industry but shows negative signs to the growth rates of import business, manufacturing, and service industries.
