초록

Many Amphibians are known to be the most vulnerable to environmental changes and seriously endangered. However, Amphibian conservation action are not active, because it have received little positive public attention compared to other animals. This study attempted to understand the dynamic emergence of positive emotion toward Amphibian by applying cusp-catastrophe model based on the assumption that elementary and secondary students’positive emotions for Amphibians will be generated discretely,non-linearly, and abruptly. In particular, this study examined non-linear effect of perception on aesthetic, ecological importance and familarity. Two hypothesized models were tested in this study. It was hypothesized that non-linear arousal of positive emotion toward amphibians is related to interaction with perception on aesthetic and ecological importance of Amphibian (model A) or aesthetic and familarity of Amphibian (model B). Empirical data about perception and emotion towards Amphibian was collected from 80 elementary school students and 73 high school students. The fitness of each hypothesized model were tested by comparing with the fitness of linear model and logistic model. The result showed that the fitness of the model B containing aesthetic and familarity of Amphibian as control variable was higher than that of linear and logistic model. Given this results, this study suggested that emergence of students’ positive emotion toward Amphibiansbased on aesthetic and familiarity could be better explained within nonlinear models.
