초록

Not executing anyone from 1998 to 2010, Korea is close to being considered a country that has abolished death penalty by the international community. However death penalty system is existing legally and the Supreme Court keeps it.
Death Penalty can’t have a right purpose as punishment because it can’t reach purpose which Penalty can transcend its general definition as revenge. Death Penalty is most often associated retribution. In many public opinion survey in Korea more 40 percent of the population favored the abolition of death penalty. Many people believe that death penalty serves to restrain people from committing murder, thereby sparing the lives of countless potential victims. Now a general deterrence effect to death penalty have insufficient empirical support for the consecutive murder case. The death penalty not only may not be adopted in statutes theoretically but is not efficient in preventing-crimes. The sanctity of human life, which gives each person a right to life, is inconsistent with the practice of putting criminals to death. The practice of death penalty causes trouble by the tragic fact that innocent people are sometimes executed. The officers of death penalty enforcement are deprived their human rights of pursuit of happiness. After enforcement of death penalty, the families of a condemned criminal receive severe agony. On these reasons, death penalty should be abolished.
