초록

본 논문은 한국 신종교의 공통된 표어로서 제시된 정신개벽의 면모를 확인하고,대순진리회 정신개벽론의 특질을 밝히는 데 목적이 있다. 정신개벽은 민족이 당하는 수난과 고통에 동참하여 민족의 위기상황에 능동적으로 대처하는 과정에서 배태된 시대 사조였다. 이에 분명한 역사적 시각을 지니면서 식민수탈에 따른 민중의 생존위협과 민족혼의 확립을 위한 미래지향적 성격을 지닌다. 따라서 정신개벽에 대한 고찰은 이 시대 신종교가 지향한 이념과 가치를 가늠하게 한다.
하지만 정신개벽의 이면에는 개창자들이 가졌던 종교체험의 내용과 그로 인해 창출된 고유한 특징이 내재되어 있다. 그러므로 신종교 대순진리회의 정신개벽론에대한 탐구는 시대정신으로서의 정신개벽에 대한 다양한 이해를 토대로 이루어져야한다. 또한 그 특질을 조명하기 위해서는 동시대에 출현한 신종교로서 천도교, 원불교와의 비교가 필요하다고 본다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 시각에서 대순진리회정신개벽론의 연원을 이해의 시작으로 하여, ‘목적’ 교리에서 갖는 종교적 위상, 그리고 그것을 체현하기 위한 방법론으로서의 무자기에 대한 문제를 체계적으로 살펴보기로 한다.
물질만능주의에 따른 가치전도현상과 배금주의는 현대사회가 노정한 여러 문제들의 중심에 있다. 그 결과 오늘날 정신의 문제와 관련하여 근본적인 변화를 가능하게 할 새로운 이념이 요청되고 있다. 정신개벽론에 대한 논의는 인간 정신의 회복을 모색하는 전환의 현시점에서 인류사회에 일조하리라 전망한다.

영어초록

The purpose of this paper is to ascertain the aspect of the transformation of the human spirit(精神開闢) suggested as a common motto of the Korean new religions and find out the characteristics of DaesoonJinrihoe. The transformation of the human spirit was the trend of the times originated from the course of participation in sufferings and agony born by people to deal positively with the national crisis. In this context, the transformation of the human spirit contains a future-oriented characteristic for survival threat of people due to colonial exploitation and establishment of the national spirit while having a explicit historical viewpoint.
Therefore, examination of the transformation of the human spirit clarifies the idea and value that the new religions of the era aimed at.
In the other side of the transformation of the human spirit,however, the contents of the religious experiences that the creators of the religions and its consequent unique characteristics are contained. Therefore, it is assumed that the transformation of the human spirit of DaesoonJinrihoe should be explored, based on understanding of the transformation of the human spirit as the spirit of the times. Furthermore, in order to focus on the characteristics, it is required to understand religious status that the transformation of the human spirit has in the creed of the ‘Ultimate Objectives(目的),’and the overall ‘Guarding against self-deception(無自欺)’ as a methodology for its experience, with the start of understanding of the origin of the transformation of the human spirit theory.
Value conduction phenomenon and mammonism by materialism are located in the center of several problems disclosed in the modern society. As a result, a new idea that makes a basic change available in connection with the spiritual problems, is required at this point of time. It is expected that discussion on the transformation of the human spirit theory would contribute to the human society at the present of conversion that seeks for moral index.
