초록

I contend that Blending Narrative Storytelling(BNS) is a turning leverage to the most precious thing; Our children. BNS is not a strategy but a pedagogical approach for us to revive through life stories of each other. These stories have been marginalized as one of items introduced at the beginning of a lesson. Now our stories become main themes and main ingredients of lessons. This study was conducted with a social studies teacher and one of her eighth grade classes. Three class periods were alloted to the lesson over three separate days. Writings and interviews before and after the lesson and the class artifacts were collected. Participant field notes were taken during the lesson and interviews that were tape-recorded simultaneously. I analyzed the written and transcribed data through theme coding and marginal notes, bridging them back and forth. Every member in the class community is a curriculum and a subject of life and knowledge. The subjects given also intermingle with and reside in our stories. Children have ownership of class, purposes and means. The teacher is empowered to bring the content to life for each child on a personal level. When we recover true relationships and learning through the BNS approach, our children truly attend to their own learning and growth.
