초록

The purpose of this study is finding ways to use historic landscapes, such as historic places and viewpoints, as an important city infrastructure for overcoming a shortage of historic resources through case study of Buyeo, one of historic cities in Korea.
Buyeo is one of important historic cities in Korea. In 2015, the city was inscribed on the World Heritage List under the title “Baekje Historic Areas” together with Gongju and Iksan, based on the recognition of its historic value of Baekje remains and their historic landscapes. Buyeo Palgyeong is one of representative historic landscapes in Buyeo, which shows Buyeo’s unique historic characteristics and beautiful city sceneries, thus, this research tried to find answers for the question how Buyeo Palgyeong works as a historic infrastructure for Buyeo through identifying forms, meanings, and characteristics of Buyeo Palgyeong.
Buyeo, which intensively shows traces of Baekje culture, is famous for, from old times, its beautiful sceneries that are comprised of Baekmagang river and Busosan mountain. Because of these beautiful sceneries, many pavilions were built for composing poems for praising beauties. Buyeo Palgyeong is a remarkable historic landscapes as an output of these Korean traditional culture of gathering beautiful sceneries and enjoying with praising poems, based on Joseon’s Palgyeong Gugok culture. Gathering beautiful sceneries, like Buyeo Palgyeong, can be easily usable as a historic infrastructure of a historic city for tourism development through viewpoints without damages of physical environments of historic landscapes. Therefore, Buyeo Palgyeong is one of important historical and cultural infrastructure for the city’s tourism development today. Understanding Buyeo Palgyeong through this research can be used for Buyeo’s future planning for providing effective historic experiences to tourists as a World Heritage city, through creation of appropriate viewpoints and maximizing tourists’ experiences in vision.
