여성 노인 유튜버를 통한 여성들의 세대 간 소통과 연대 -박막례, 밀라논나 채널을 중심으로 (Intergenerational Communication between Elderly Women YouTubers and Young Women Audiences)

초록

노인 혐오, 여성 혐오의 시대에 등장한 여성 노인 유튜버 박막례와 밀라논나는 약 100만 구독자 를 확보하고 있으며, 이 대부분이 젊은 세대 여성이다. 이 연구는 젊은 여성들이 왜 이 유튜브를 보고 거기에서 어떤 것을 느끼고 무엇이 달라졌는지 심층 인터뷰를 통해 살펴본 것이다. 그 결과 첫째, 여성 노인들은 진정한 자신을 그대로 드러내고 목소리 내었으며, 이를 본 젊은 여성 수용 자들은 즐거움과 친근감, 향수와 위로를 얻고, 응원으로 답하고 있었다. 이렇게 두 유튜버가 여 성이자 노인으로서의 자신을 드러내고 말하면서 스스로 여성 노인 ‘되기’를 시작했고, 수용자들 도 공감과 위로와 응원으로 여성 노인 ‘되기’의 첫 단계에 들어섰다. 박막례와 밀라논나는 여성 이자 노인으로 그동안 목소리를 가지지 못했지만, 이제는 자신의 채널을 통해 스스로 대변하며, 서발턴의 말하기를 실천하고 있었다. 둘째, 수용자들은 박막례와 밀라논나의 당당하고 열려 있 는 모습을 보면서 노인에 대한 선입견에서 벗어났다. 또 여성 노인 개개인의 차이를 받아들이면 서 노인 안에서도 개별성, 다양성이 있다는 것을 은연중에 느끼고 있었다. 두 여성 노인 유튜버 가 보여주는 개별성, 다양성, 입체성은 소수자를 동일한 한 덩어리로 묶어 부정적 인식을 투영하 는 스테레오타입을 파괴하는 힘을 가진다. 셋째 수용자들은 두 여성 노인의 인생 경험을 인정하 고 배웠으며, 나아가 인생의 ‘멘토’로 삼고 스스로 ‘멘티’가 되고 있었다. 미래가 불안한 젊은 여성 수용자들은 두 유튜버의 조언과 상담을 통해 감동을 받고 스스로 마음을 챙기고, 삶을 좀 더 주체적으로 생각하게 되었다. 밀라논나와 박막례는 같은 여성이자 세상을 먼저 살아온 ‘어른’ 으로서, 젊은 여성들과 적극적으로 소통하려는 모습을 보였고, 수용자들도 이들은 ‘어른’으로 인 정하며 ‘멘토’와 ‘멘티’ 관계가 만들어졌다. 넷째, 여성 노인 유튜버와 수용자들은 세대 간 여성 연대를 만들고 확장하고 있었으며, 여성 노인 ‘되기’를 통해 미래의 자신을 좀 더 긍정적으로 생각하고 기대하고 있었다. 수용자들은 여성 노인의 입장에 공감하고, 그들이 보는 세상, 그들이 사는 세상에 관심을 가지고 배려하거나 같이 하려 했다. 무엇보다 수용자들은 자신이 나이 들어가는 것, 즉 신체와 외모의 노화와 노후, 그리고 노인에게 주어지는 사회적 시선의 제약 때문에 미래에 대해 가지고 있던 불안감, 두려움이 줄어들었다고 말했다. 박막례와 밀라논나는 “늙어도 삶을 즐길 수 있는 권리가 있다”며 노인도 욕망을 가진 주체임을 보여주었고, 이를 본 수용자들 은 나이 드는 것에 대해서 인식이 바뀌었고, 나아가 ‘나도 저렇게 늙으면 참 좋겠다’며 일종의 기대도 하게 되었다. 박막례, 밀라논나의 채널을 통한 젊은 여성의 여성 노인 ‘되기’ 경험은 결국 타인이 되어보는 경험인 동시에 자신의 미래를 생각하고 준비해보는 경험이 되고 있었다. 이는 일종의 세대 간 상호 ‘되기’일 것이다.

Older female YouTubers Park Mak-rye and Milanonna, who appeared in the era of elder hatred and misogyny, have about 1 million subscribers, most of which are women of the younger generation. The study examined why young women watched this YouTube channel, what they felt, and what changed in there through in-depth interviews. As a result, first, the elderly women expressed their true self and spoke out, and the young female audience who saw it were receiving joy, friendliness, nostalgia and comfort, and answering with support. In this way, the two YouTubers started the female elderly "becoming" by revealing themselves as women and elderly people, and the audience also entered the first stage of the female elderly "becoming" with empathy, comfort and support. Park Mak-rye and Milanonna were women and elderly people who had not had a voice until now, but now they were speaking for themselves through their own channels and the speech of "Subaltern." Second, the audience escaped from their preconceptions about the elderly by watching Makrye Park and Milanonna's confident and open appearance. In addition, while accepting the differences between the elderly women, the audience felt that there was individuality and diversity within the elderly. The individuality, diversity, and three-dimensionality shown by the two elderly female YouTubers have the power to destroy stereotypes that project negative perceptions by tying minorities into the same lump. Third, the audience recognized and learned the life experiences of the two elderly women, and furthermore, they were making them their "mentors" of life. Young female audience with unstable future were moved by the advice and counseling of the two YouTubers, took care of their own minds, and have become more independent in their lives. Milanonna and Park Mak-rye were the same women and "adults" who lived in the world first, and they actively tried to communicate with young women, and the audience recognized them as "adults," creating a "mentor" and "mentee" relationship. Fourth, elderly female YouTubers and audience were creating and expanding women's solidarity between generations, and audience were thinking and expecting more positively about themselves in the future through 'being' an elderly woman. The audience sympathized with the position of elderly women and tried to be interested, considerate, and live together in the world where elderly women live. Above all, the audience said that the anxiety and fear they had about their old age - due to aging of their body and appearance, insufficient preparation for their old age, and restrictions on social gaze given to the elderly - were reduced. Park Mak-rye and Milanonna showed that the elderly are also the subjects of life with desire, saying, "Even if they are old, they have the right to enjoy life." Audiences who saw this changed their perception of aging, and even had a kind of expectation, saying, "I wish I could grow old like them." The young woman's experience of "being an elderly woman" through Park Mak-rye and Milanonna's channel was eventually becoming an experience of being another person and at the same time thinking and preparing for her own future. This would be a kind of intergenerational 'being'.
