초록

Evaluation on the city's competitiveness is very useful tool to analyze a city because it shows the
status of a city and provides objective level of the city. Therefore, there have been many studies and
practical implementations to measure the competitiveness of cities from various parts, such as
government agency, international organization, local institution and researchers during the past decade.
Furthermore, the environment change around cities requires constantly refinement on the evaluation
process for city's competitiveness. Especially, indicators and its weight for evaluating the city's
competitiveness are very critical issues because they have to be compatible with people's perception of
competitiveness as well as affect the results of competitiveness ranking. However, competitiveness
indicators are used to be selected by subjective process and its weight are determined by statistical
process in most of Korean studies. There have been little efforts to reflect the perception of experts in
the process of indicators selection and determination of its weight. The purpose of this research is to
suggest the evaluation process of city's competitiveness complemented with experts survey. In this way,
the survey was conducted twice. The first is to select statistical indicators representing for
competitiveness criteria based on the expert's opinion. The second was designed to apply Analytic
Hierarchy Process(AHP), and conducted for reflecting indicators weight based on the perception of
experts. Through the above-mentioned process, 9 indicators and their weights have been deduced. The
competitiveness of 7 cities has been evaluated. After this, continuous studies on objective indicator are
required
