초록

As management environment undergoes rapid change, the demand for consulting that provides benchmarking of leading corporations and knowledge services for resolving management problems is continuously increasing. There are, however, limitations for small and medium-sized consulting firms in Korea in developing and operating their own consulting methodologies due to their short corporate history and their small size, the result being that the gap between their market competitiveness and leading global businesses is gradually increasing. It can be argued, then, that there is an urgent need for state-level support on foundational knowledge on consulting methodologies that small and medium-sized consulting firms in Korea could utilize. With this in the background, this paper aims to combine the consulting case studies of many domestic and foreign consulting firms in diverse fields that have been carried out in the past and to propose a consulting knowledge fusion technology which can create and extract appropriate methodologies to deal with the decision-making problems faced by users. The fusion technology being proposed is largely composed of algorithms which are consecutively carried out in three stages. The first- and second-stage algorithms are module-based consulting methodology matching and creation algorithms designed to produce various consulting methodology candidates that can create the output results being requested by users. The third algorithm is an interactive CBR, which is designed to gradually extract consulting methodologies that are appropriate to users through two-way communication with them using as a basis the consulting methodologies that were produced in the previous stage. To verify the practical value of the consulting knowledge fusion technology being proposed in this paper, the results of a case study examining how such technology could be applied in recommending consulting methodologies for decision making related to “middle to long-term strategy” are also presented.
