원불교 신앙관 모색 -『대승기신론(大乘起信論)』의 진여사상과 신란(親鸞)의 정토사상을 통해서 (Seeking the Won Buddhism Faith : Through the Tathata Idea of “Awakening of Faith in the Mahayana” and the Pure Land Ideology of Shinran)

초록

본 논문은 불교의 『대승기신론(大乘起信論)』 진여사상과 신란(親鸞)의 정토사상을 통해 원불교의 법신불 및 사은 신앙에 대해 법신 부처님 신앙으로 통일하자는 것이다. 현재 원불교 신앙은 법신불과 사은이 혼용 또는 병용되고 있다.
대상은 법신불이지만 그 내용은 사은으로 불일치를 보이면서 교학상으로나신앙상으로나 혼란을 가져오고 있다.
원불교의 신앙은 법신불 일원상 진리에 대한 믿음을 중심으로 설명하고 있지만 그 내용에 들어가서는 사은 신앙을 핵심으로 하고 있다. 그런데 법신불일원상과 사은이 신앙의 측면에서 동일한 선상으로 이해 가능한지의 문제가제기되고 있다. 오늘날 법신불 사은으로 부르는 신앙의 호칭이 충분히 정당할수 있는지, 앞으로의 종교적 신앙감을 형성하는데 아무런 문제가 없는지 검토하는 논의가 일어나고 있는 것이다. 필자는 원불교의 신앙의 문제에 있어서 세가지로 제시할 것이다. 첫째, 법신불의 이법적 해석, 둘째, 사은의 현상에 기반한 방편적 해석, 셋째, 법신불과 사은을 내역이라는 범주적 관계로 바라보는문제다.
원불교의 신앙에 대한 논의와 해석을 확장하기 위해 불교 사상 가운데 『대승기신론』의 진여사상과 신란의 정토사상에 나타난 불타관을 눈여겨 볼 수 있다. 이 두 사상에서 말하는 법신·보신·화신의 불타관에 보이는 위상과 작용 등 진리관은 원불교의 법신불 신앙에 대한 정체성 및 사상적 깊이를 더해줄 것이다.
원불교의 법신불은 절대적이며 언어도단의 진리지만 동시에 공적영지의 광명과 진공묘유의 조화로서 작용하여 무량한 은혜로 현현하고 있다. 사은은 이과정에 나타난 법신불의 속성인 무량한 은혜이다. 이에 우리는 사은에게 보신불의 지위를 부여할 수 있다. 그리고 법신불의 속성이 발현되어 무한한 은혜로 현현하고 있다는 것을 깨달은 이들이 일체의 화신불인 것이다. 원불교의 법신불과 사은을 통해 법신·보신·화신의 불타관을 정립한다면 신앙의 대상과호칭은 이 모두를 담고 있는 ‘법신 부처님’, ‘일원 부처님’, ‘은혜 부처님’으로 통칭할 수 있을 것이다. 그렇게 법신불의 존재론적 위상과 그 속성의 관점에서사은을 바라봄으로써 법신불과 사은을 사상적으로나 신앙적으로 통일시킬 수있을 것이다.

영어초록

This thesis intends to unify the Dharmakaya of the Won Buddhism and the Fourfold Grace faith into the Dharmakaya Buddha faith through the Tathata ideas of the ‘Awakening of Faith in the Mahayana’ and the Pure Land Buddhist ideology of Shinran of Buddhism.At present, regarding the Won Buddhism faith, the Dharmakaya and the Fourfold Grace have been mixed and used or used jointly. Although the subject is Dharmakaya, the details are the Fourfold Grace. The confusion has been brought forth in teaching and learning or in faith while showing the discords.
Although the faith of the Won Buddhism has been explaining centered on the belief regarding the truth of the Dharmakaya Il-Won-Sang, inside the details, the Fourfold Grace faith has been the core. Meanwhile, the problem of whether the Dharmakaya Il-Won-Sang and the Fourfold Grace can be understood collinearly in terms of the aspect of the faith has been raised.
There have been the discussions that examine whether the appellation of the faith that is called the “The Fourfold Grace” of the Dharmakaya today can be sufficiently justified and whether there are no problems in forming the sense of the religious faith in the future. With regard to the issue of the faith in the Won Buddhism, I, the writer, will present three things. First, they are the interpretations of the Dharmakaya according to the principles and the laws.
Second, they are the expediential interpretations based on the phenomenon of the Fourfold Grace. And, third, it is the issue of looking at the Dharmakaya and the Fourfold Grace as having the category relationship called the “breakdown”.
In order to expand the discussions and the interpretations of the faith of the Won Buddhism, the Tathata Dharmakaya ideas in the ‘Awakening of Faith in the Mahayana’ among the Buddhist ideas can be taken a look at carefully.
And, among the Shinran Pure Land ideas, the views of Buddha can be taken a look at carefully. The view of truth, including the status, the actions, etc. that appeared in the views of Buddha of Dharmakaya, the self-preservation, and the incarnation that are talked about in these two ideas will add to the depth of the identity and the ideas of the Dharmakaya faith of the Won Buddhism.
The Dharmakaya of the Won Buddhism is absolute. And, although it is the truth of the unspeakable, at the same time, it has been incarnated as a measureless grace by acting as a harmony between the bright future of the public land and the wondrous being of true emptiness. The Fourfold Grace is a measureless grace, which is an attribute of the Dharmakaya which appeared in this process. We can give the status of the self-preservation Buddha to the Fourfold Grace. And it is the one-body, incarnated Buddha of the people who realized the fact that the attributes of the Dharmakaya were manifested and have been incarnated as the infinite grace. If the views of Buddha of the Dharmakaya, the self-preservation, and the incarnation is established through the Dharmakaya and the Fourfold Grace of the Won Buddhism, regarding the subject and the appellation of the faith, they can be commonly named as the ‘Dharmakaya Buddha’ or the ‘Il-Won Buddha’ or the ‘Grace Buddha’, which contain all of these. By looking at the Fourfold Grace from the viewpoint of the ontological status of Dharmakaya and from the view point of the attributes, it will be possible to unify the Dharmakaya and the Fourfold Grace either ideologically or religiously.
