비행청소년의 인성지도를 위한 나르시시즘 구조적 패턴 연구 - 동화 <강아지똥>을 중심으로 - (A Research on the Structural Pattern of Narcissism for Personality Guidance for Juvenile Delinquents - Focused on Children’s Story‘Doggy Poo’ -)

초록

본 연구의 목적은 동화에 등장하는 주인공의 나르시시즘을 구조적 패턴으로 분석하여 제시함으로써 비행청소년의 인성지도의 근간이 되는 건강한 나르시시즘 지향과 지도에 도움을 주고자 한다. 연구텍스트는 권정생의「강아지똥」(기독교교육지, 1969.)으로 한다. 연구방법은 Kohut의 ‘자기애의 발달과정’을 전제로, 개인의 삶에 미치는 환경적 요소(시대적 상황과 주변인물)와 등장인물의 나르시시즘과의 연관성을 구조적 패턴으로 분석하여, 주체의 자기애 발달과 환경적 요소와의 관계에 중심을 둔 나르시시즘 변화과정과 자기애의 성취 기준에 둔다. 단, 나르시시즘 변화과정의 첫 단계에 해당하는 자기애의 충족 부분은 마가렛 S. 말러의 ‘공생과 분리개별화’을 접목하기로 한다.
연구결과 강아지똥의 나르시시즘의 구조적 패턴은 첫째, 일차적 나르시시즘 충족 → 개별화 과정에서의 상실 → 자기대상을 통한 추구 → 이상화된 나르시시즘 보존 →이타적 승화의 과정으로 진행됨으로써 건강한 나르시시즘의 양상으로 나타났다. 둘째, 강아지똥의 나르시시즘 승화는 우주 내의 모든 존재 중 그 어떤 것도 무용지물이 없다는 자연의 원리를 보여줌과 동시에 그 누구라도 이 세상에 꼭 필요한 존재임을 깨닫게 하였다. 셋째, 건강한 나르시시즘은 사회 구성원 모두가 서로의 존재가치를 존중하고, 공존하고, 상생할 수 있는 바람직한 사회를 이룰 수 있는 근간이 됨을 보여주었다.
본 연구를 통하여, 나르시시즘은 모든 살아있는 생명체가 당연히 보유하고 있는 자기 보존본능이지만, 환경적 요소에 의해 양상이 달라짐을 알 수 있다. 환경적 요소는 대체로 주체의 나이, 환경, 심리상태에 따라 외상의 강도가 달라지지만, 특히 비행청소년인 경우 환경적 요소가 나르시시즘의 방향 설정에 핵심이 될 수 있다. 즉, 부모의 부재로 인한 사랑의 결핍, 또는 주변인의 무관심은 병적인 나르시시즘으로 전이될 가능성이 있으며, 부모의 적절한 사랑과 공감, 주변인의 배려는 건강한 나르시시즘의 양상으로 전이될 수 있는 것이다. 특히 질풍노도의 성장과정에 있는 비행청소년의 나르시시즘 변화과정에는 조력자의 영향이 아주 크다. 그러므로 비행청소년의 부모, 혹은 관리 지도하는 교사는 비행청소년의 불안정한 정서와 불안 요소를 감안하여 본 연구에서 제시한 건강한 나르시시즘의 구조적 패턴을 활용하면 교정 가능성이 많은 비행청소년의 인성지도에 도움이 되리라 사료된다.

영어초록

This research aimed to contribute to the pursuit and guidance of healthy narcissism that serves as a foundation for personality guidance for juvenile delinquents by analyzing the structured pattern of narcissism of the main characters in the children’s story. The researched text was ‘Doggy Poo’ by Kwon Jeong-saeng (Christianity Guide Book, 1969). When it comes to the research method, the research analyzed the correlation between the environmental elements (situation of the times and others) that influence the life of individuals and narcissism of the characters based on the ‘development process of self-love’ by Kohut, and considered the analysis result as the basis for the transformation process of narcissism and achievement of self-love focusing on the relation between development of self-love of the subject and the environmental elements. However, it decided to combine the part of satisfaction of self-love, which is the first step of the transformation process of narcissism and ‘separation customization’ by Margaret S. Mahler.
First, the research discovered that the structured pattern of Doggy Poo appeared in the form of healthy narcissism by going through the process of primary satisfaction of narcissism, loss during the individualization process, pursuit through self-object, preservation of ideal narcissism and altruistic sublimation. Second, sublimation of narcissism in Doggy Poo showed the principle of the nature that among all existence in the universe nothing is useless and helped us realize that everyone is essential-being in the world. Third, it showed that healthy narcissism is a foundation to establish a desirable society where all society members respect the values of existence of each other and live together in harmony.
This research showed that narcissism is an instinct of self-preservation that all living creatures essentially have but the aspect of narcissism can be different depending on the environmental elements. The intensity of trauma varies by age, environment and mentality of the subjects, but in particular, the environmental elements can become the key to setting the direction of narcissism for juvenile delinquents. In other words, a lack of love due to the absence of parents or negligence of others is likely to be transitioned to pathological narcissism and proper love and sympathy of parents and consideration of others can be transitioned into health narcissism. In particular, the role of the facilitators had a very huge impact on the transformation process of narcissism of juvenile delinquents who are experiencing a stormy period of adolescence. Therefore, if the parents or supervising teachers of juvenile delinquents use the structured pattern of healthy narcissism that was proposed in this research given the unstable emotions and unstable factors, it is considered to be helpful for personality guidance for juvenile delinquents who have a lot of potential to be corrected.
