『關北詩選』 氏名事蹟 수록 관북 지역 문인들의 특성 (A study on characteristics of Guanbuk area literary persons of Gwanbuksiseon(關北詩選) Simyeongsajeok(氏名事蹟))

초록

본고는 16～17세기 관북 지역 문인들이 지니고 있던 특성을 파악하기 위해 『關北詩選』「氏名事蹟」에 수록된 문인 62명을 대상으로 함경도로의 이주와 정착 과정, 거주 지역과 혈연 관계, 과거 급제 정보와 관직 이력 등을 검토하여 분석하였다.
지역 문학적 관점에서는 무엇보다 창작 주체라 할 수 있는 문인들의 특성을 파악하는 것이 중요하다. 「씨명사적」에는 16～17세기에 활동한 관북 지역 출신 문인 작가 62명을 생몰연대와 활동시기를 고려하여 정렬하고, 각 인물의 인적 사항을 기술해 놓았다.
본고에서는 「씨명사적」 소재 문인들의 인물 정보를 통해 16～17세기 관북 지역 문인들의 특성을 크게 세 가지로 나누어 살펴보았다. 먼저 관북 지역 문인들은 본래부터 함경도에 세거한 것이 아니라 선대에 특정 국면을 계기로 이주하여 정착한 경우가 대부분이었다. 『관북시선』에 수록된 문인들은 여말 선초 관북 지역으로 이주와 정착을 통해 지역 안에서 토착화 과정을 거친 사족의 후손으로서, 16～17세기에 이르러 학문 활동과 과거를 통해 지역의 문인으로 성장한 인물들이었다.
다음으로 16～17세기 관북 지역 문인들은 대부분 함흥을 중심으로 하는 南關 지역에 집중되어 있다. 이는 실제로 관북 지역의 문인 계층이 남관 지역을 중심으로 성장하였음을 보여주는 것이기도 하다. 한편 「씨명사적」에 수록 인물 중에는 함흥에 세거하고 있던 전주주씨와 청주한씨 가문의 인사들이 절반 가까이를 차지하는데, 이 두 가문은 혼반 관계를 형성하고 있었다. 다른 인물들의 경우에도 혈연과 혼맥으로 맺어진 사례가 대부분이었다. 따라서 「씨명사적」은 혈연과 혼맥으로 연결된 관북 지역 문인들의 특징을 보여준다.
관북 지역에서는 16세기 중반부터 과거 급제자를 배출하였는데, 『관북시선』의 편찬은 16～17세기에 이르러 많은 과거 급제자를 배출하게 된 관북 지역의 자긍심을 표출하기 위한 시도였다. 하지만 관북 지역 출신 문과 급제자 중에 당상관 이상으로 오른 사례는 거의 발견되지 않으며, 대부분 하위직을 전전하다가 지방 수령으로 관직 생활을 마쳤다. 또 관북 지역 출신 급제자를 다시 함경도 지역의 지방관으로 보내거나, 함경도 지역에 있는 陵殿의 참봉직을 맡게 하였다. 『관북시선』 수록 문인들의 관직 이력을 통해 이러한 차별적인 요소가 존재하고 있었음도 확인할 수 있다.
『관북시선』「씨명사적」은 위에서 언급한 16～17세기 관북 지역 문인들의 특성을 보여주고 있는 만큼, 『관북시선』 수록 작품들에도 이러한 특성이 잘 반영되어 있을 것이라 추정할 수 있다.

영어초록

This research reviewed and analyzed the migration and settlement into Hamkyoungdo, residential district, blood relationship, success in the state examination, and public post background of 62 literary persons in 『Gwanbuksiseon(關北詩選)』 「Simyeongsajeok(氏名事蹟)」 to understand the characteristics of the literary persons of Guanbuk area during the 16th～17th century.
In respect of regional literary viewpoint, firstly it is important to comprehend the characteristics of the literary persons, the main body of creation. 「Simyeongsajeok」 considered and arranged 62 literary persons from Guanbuk area during the 16th～17th century according to their birth and death period, and described their personal information.
This research largely divided the characteristics of Gwanbuk literary persons during the 16th～17th century through the information of the literary persons in 「Simyeongsajeok」. Firstly, most of Guanbuk area literary persons were not the original residents in Hamgkyoungdo, but moved and settled down there due to a particular situation of the previous generation. The literary persons in 『Gwanbuksiseon』 were the descendants of clan, who went through nativization in the region through migration and settlement to Guanbuk area during the late Goryeo and the early Joseon, who grew into the regional literary persons through the academic activities and state exam during the 16th～17th century.
Next, Guanbuk area literary persons during the 16th～17th century were concentratedly distributed in Namgwan(南關) region mainly with Hamheung(咸興). This shows that Guanbuk area literary persons actually grew based on Namgwan region. On the other hand, half of Jeonju Ju family and Cheongju Han family members in 「Simyeongsajeok」 lived in Hamheung, and these two families formed a marriage relationship. Most of other persons were also in blood or marriage connections. Therefore, 「Simyeongsajeok」 shows the characteristics of Guanbuk area literary persons in blood and marriage connections.
Guanbuk area produced state exam passers since the mid 16th century, the publication of 『Gwanbuksiseon』 was an attempt to express the pride of Guanbuk area that produced lots of state exam passers during the 16th～17th century. However, few of state passers from Guanbuk were promoted to a higher post than Dangsanggwan(堂上官), most of them worked as low-ranking officers and finished their public post as the regional officers. Also, state passers from Guanbuk area were sent to Hamkyoungdo as the regional officers again, or appointed as Chambong(參奉) of Neungjeon(陵殿) in Hamkyoungdo. Such discriminative factors were also found in the public post background of the literary persons in 『Gwanbuksiseon』.
It can be determined that such characteristics were well reflected on the works included in 『Gwanbuksiseon』, as 『Gwanbuksiseon』 「Simyeongsajeok」 well shows the characteristics of the above mentioned Guanbuk area literary persons of the 16th ～ 17th century.
