찬반 토론을 활용한 플립드 러닝(Flipped Learning) 강의 설계에 관한 연구 - 사회적 책임과 기업 윤리 강의를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Lecture Design of Flipped Learning Using Pros and Cons - Focusing on the Lecture of “Social Responsibility and Corporate Ethics” -)

초록

사회 전반의 급격한 변화는 교육 패러다임의 변화를 요구하고 있으며 획기적인 교육시스템의 변화 없이 4차산업 혁명 시대의 주역이 될 창의적 융합 인재를 양성하기는 매우 어려운 현실에 직면해 있다. 플립드 러닝을 활용한 학생들의 수업성과와 수업에 대한 높은 관심이 입증되면서 플립드 러닝 강의에 대한 필요성이 커지고 있다.
이에 본 연구는 “사회적 책임과 기업 윤리” 강의를 사례로 찬반토론을 활용한 플립드 러닝 강의 설계와 운영 전략을 논의함으로써 토론을 활용한 플립드 러닝 강의에 관한 롤 모델을 제시하고자 하였다.
수업 분석 및 설계 과정에서 철저한 내용 요소분석과 학습자의 특성 및 토론 활동에의 적합성을 파악하며, 시의적절하고 유용한 토론 주제를 선정하여 토론이 원활히 진행될 수 있도록 예제를 구성하는 노력이 매우 중요하다. 수업 전에 학생들이 학습하고 강의에 임해야 할 사전학습 자료가 학습관리시스템(LMS)을 통해 제시되어야하고 토론 주제에 대한 찬성 측과 반대 측의 논거와 준비 자료가 공유되어야 한다. 교실 수업에 적합한 토론 유형인 칼 포퍼식 토론 방식을 채택하였지만 토론의 마무리 과정에서는 다소 변형된 형식으로 토론을 관전하는 학생들의 토론 참여 기회를 보장하였다. 아울러 학습과 토론 내용에 대한 퀴즈를 강의 환경의 적절성을 고려하여실시하여야 할 것이다.
분석 결과 학습자인 학생들은 플립드 러닝 강의에 대체적으로 만족하는 것으로 나타났으며 플립드 러닝을 활용함으로써 학습동기가 높아지고, 강의에 대한 이해도와 자기주도 학습 능력이 향상된다고 생각하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 플립드 러닝을 적용한 학기의 강의 평가 점수는 그렇지 않은 학기에 비하여 매우 높은 것으로 나타나플립드 러닝 활용에 대해 학생들은 긍정적인 생각을 가지고 있는 것으로 유추되며 일반 강의와 비교하여 강의 만족도와 지지도가 높은 것으로 판단된다.
본 연구에서 논의된 강의 설계 및 운영 전략은 특정한 대학의 특정 강의를 사례로 제시되었기 때문에 모든 강의에 일반화시켜 적용하기에는 한계가 있을 것이다. 그러나 본 연구의 결과가 플립드 러닝을 활용하여 강의를 설계하고 계획하는 초안을 마련하는데 유용한 정보를 제공하고 하나의 롤 모델로서 청사진의 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다.

영어초록

Rapid changes in society require a change in the education paradigm, and it is very difficult to cultivate creative convergence talents who will be the leaders of the Fourth Industrial Revolution without a revolutionary educational system. The need for flipped learning lectures is growing as the results of the students' class performance and the high interest in the flipped learning. Therefore, this study intended to suggest a role model of flipped learning lecture using pros and cons by discussing the design and operation strategy of flipped learning as an example of “social responsibility and corporate ethics” lecture.
In the process of class analysis and design, thorough contents element analysis, learner's characteristics and suitability to discussion activities, are conducted and it is very important to construct timely and useful debate topics so that discussion can proceed smoothly. Before class pre-learning materials for students should be presented through the Learning Management System (LMS), and the arguments of the pros and cons on the topic of discussion should be shared. Although Karl Popper's debate method, which is a suitable discussion type for classroom instruction, was adopted, in the closing of the discussion, the method was in a somewhat modified in order to guarantee the opportunity of debate-observing students' participation. In addition, quizzes on learning and discussion should be conducted in consideration of the appropriateness of the lecture environment.
The results showed that students who were learners were generally satisfied with the flipped learning lectures, and the motivation for learning, self-directed learning ability and the understanding of the lectures was improved by using the flipped learning. In addition, the lecture evaluation score of the semester with flipped learning was very high compared to the semester with no flipped learning. Thus it is inferred that students had positive attitudes on flipped learning and the lecture satisfaction and the level of support is higher than the general lectures.
The lecture design and operation strategy discussed in this study may have limitation to the generalization of all lectures because the specific lectures of a particular university are presented as an example. However, the results of this study may provide useful information on the plan and the design of lectures using flipped learning and serve as a blueprint as a role model.
