플립드 러닝을 적용한 고전소설 수업 사례 연구 (Cases of Lessons on Classical Novels based on the Application of Flipped Learning)

초록

이 연구는 플립드 러닝을 적용한 대학 고전소설 수업 사례를 살펴 본 것이다.
기존 강의를 분석하여 전통적인 방식의 고전소설 교육에서 벗어나야 함을 밝혔고, 학습자 중심의 플립드 러닝 고전소설 수업 강의를 설계하였다. 특히 고전소설작품을 읽고, 자기주도적으로 탐구하는 교수학습 방안에 중점을 두었다. 수업 설계에 기초하여 2017에서 2019년까지 3년간 플립드 러닝을 적용한 고전소설 수업사례를 분석하였다. 수업전, 수업중, 수업후 단계에 따라 학습 활동을 배치하고, 질의, 토론, 발표 등의 자기주도 학습을 통해 고전소설을 이해하고 감상하도록 하였다. 이러한 학습자 중심 교육은 교수-학생의 상호작용을 촉진하였고, 주제 토론, 고전소설 리텔링 발표 등을 통해 학습자가 고전소설의 현재성을 인식하는 계기가되었다.
그리고 플립드 러닝의 효과와 학습자 만족도를 교수자가 설계한 학습자 설문과 2019년도에 교수학습개발센터에서 실시한 수강생 설문을 통해 살펴보았다. 그결과, 플립드 러닝을 적용한 고전소설 수업 진단 평가에서 플립드 러닝 수업이 효과적이었다는 유의미한 통계를 확인하였고, 학습량, 활동 참여 등 학습자의 부담요인, 학습자의 수업태도에 따른 편차 등 한계를 파악하였다.
고전소설 플립드 러닝 수업의 성과를 높이기 위해서는 학습자의 지적 능력과학습역량을 믿고, 학생 스스로 학습할 수 있는 방법을 보완해야 할 것이다.

영어초록

This study presents cases of lessons on classical novels in college based on the application of flipped learning. By analyzing old lectures, the study first highlighted the need to move on from the conventional approach to the education of classical novels and designed learner-centric, flipped learning-based lessons. A special focus was on the teaching and learning plan for classical novels and conducting a self-directed inquiry. Based on this lesson design, the investigator analyzed cases of flipped learning-based lessons on classical novels from 2017 to 2019. The design allocated different learning activities in the pre-, in-, and after-class stages and encouraged students to understand and appreciate classical novels through self-directed learning involving questions, discussions, and presentations. This learner-centric education facilitated interactions between teachers and students and offered an opportunity for students to recognize the presentity of classical novels through topic discussions and presentations retelling classical novels. The study then examined the effects of flipped learning andstudents' satisfaction using a student questionnaire designed by teachers. The survey was conducted with a group of students at the Teaching and Learning Development Center in 2019. The results showed that flipped learning-based lessons were effective, with significant data obtained through a diagnosis and assessment of these lessons on classical novels. The study also revealed some limitations of flipped learning, including the burden on students due to the volume of study, participation in activities, and gaps among students due to different individual attitudes during lessons. Students' intellectual competency and learning capabilities should be trusted and the old approaches should be supplemented with a way of promoting svoluntary learning. This will help address the abovementioned limitations and improve the outcomes of flipped learning-based lessons on classical novels.
