대학생의 우울과 학업동기와의 관계에서 강점인식의 매개효과 (The Mediating Effect of Strengths Knowledge in a Relationship between Depression and Academic Motivation)

초록

목적 본 연구의 목적은 대학생의 우울과 학업동기와의 관계에서 강점인식의 매개효과를 검증하는 것이다.
방법 이를 위해 P시의 H대학교 상담심리학과 사회복지학을 전공하는 대학생 401명을 대상으로 서베이를 실시하였고, Jamovi 2.2.5와 Process Macro for SPSS 4.0으로 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다.
결과 첫째, 대학생의 우울과 학업동기, 우울과 강점인식은 부적상관이 있었고, 강점인식과 학업동기는 정적상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 대학생의 우울은 학업동기를 유의미하게 예측하는 것으로 나타나 대학생의 우울수준이 높을수록 학업동기수준이 높은 것을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 대학생의 강점인식은 우울과 학업동기의 관계를 완전매개하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이는 우울 수준이높은 대학생이 자신에 대한 강점을 인식할수록 학업동기가 향상된다는 결과로 해석된다.
결론 본 연구의 결과는 우울을 경험하는 대학생이 자신에 대한 강점을 인식하는 수준이 높을수록 학업동기가 높아진다는 것을 의미하며, 학업동기수준을 높이기 위해 자신에 대한 강점을 발견할 수 있도록 개입하는 것이 필요함을 시사해준다. 이를 바탕으로 대학생의 학업동기를 증진시키기 위해 모색해야 할 방향성에 대해 제언하였다.

영어초록

Objectives The objective of this study was to verify and analyze the effects of depression on academic motivation of university students, focusing on the mediating effects of strengths knowledge.
Methods For the purpose, a total of 401 H University students was surveyed, and the results of the analysis were conducted using Jamovi 2.2.5 and Process Macro for SPSS 4.0. The results of the study were as follows.
Results First, a statistically significant negative correlation was confirmed between depression and academic motivation as well as depression and strengths knowledge of the university students. On the other hand, strengths knowledge and academic motivation were found to have a positive correlation. Second, the students' depression significantly predicted academic motivation, indicating that the higher levels of depression were associated with higher levels of academic motivation. Third, the strengths knowledge has a complete mediating effect in the relationship between depression and academic motivation of the students. This interpreted as the result that the more university students with higher levels of depression perceive their own strengths, the more motivated they are to study.
Conclusions The results of this study suggest that the higher the level of strengths knowledge of university students experiencing depression, the higher academic motivation, and that it is necessary to intervene to let them discover their strengths in order to increase academic motivation. Based on this, the direction to be sought to improve the academic motivation of university students was suggested.
