지형 및 GIS 분석에 따른 나주 오량동유적의 입지 특성 (Location Characteristics of the Naju Oryangdong Site using Geomorphological and GIS Analysis)

이 연구에서는 지형 및 GIS 분석을 이용하여 전남 나주 오량동유적(이하 오량동유적)의 고고과학적입지환경을 검토하였다. 지형분석 결과, 오량동유적 주변은 하천환경(영산강), 해수환경(서해) 및 산지· 구릉환경이 조화를 이루는 지역인 것으로 나타났다. 오량동유적은 영산강 본류로부터 약 1km 떨어진특정 구릉의 말단부에 입지하고 있다. 유적 스케일의 GIS 분석 결과, 오량동유적은 표고 9.9~18.1m, 경사도 9.1° 미만인 평탄지(또는 완경사지)에 입지하며, 유적이 분포하는 사면은 남향계열(남, 남동, 남서)이 52.1%로서 가장 넓게 나타났다. 유구 스케일의 GIS 분석 결과, 오량동유적 유구는 표고10.3~15.8m(평균 13.3m), 경사도 1.7~6.9°(평균 3.9°)인 평탄지(또는 완경사지)에 입지하며, 유구의 사면은 남서향과 북동향이 각각 44.4%로서 가장 넓게 분포한다. 이는 오량동유적의 옹관가마 조성시 표고, 경사도 및 사면향을 고려하여 하천으로부터 침수 가능성이 적고, 지표면이 비교적 평탄하며, 상대적으로 일조량이 풍부한 남향계열 사면의 지표면에 가마를 조성했다는 것을 의미한다. 따라서 오량동유적은 옹관의 원료산지와 접근성 및 운반, 완제품의 유통 편이성, 자연재해, 생산(가마) 공간 확보, 일사량 측면에서 매우 유리한 천혜의 장소에 입지한 것으로 사료된다.

영어초록

In this study, we were to investigate the location environments of the Oryangdong site in Naju, Korea, using geomorphological and GIS analysis. As a result of the geomorphological analysis, it was found that the surroundings of the Oryangdong site is natural environment in which the alluvial environment (Yeongsan River), seawater environment (the West Sea) and the mountain and hills environment is in harmony with each other. In addition, it was confirmed that the Oryangdong site are located at the snout of the particular hills that are about 1km away from the main stream of Yeongsan River. As a result of GIS analysis of the site scale, it was found that the Oryangdong site is located at the flat or gentle slope whose altitude is 9.9 to 18.1m, and gradient is less than 9.1° and the slopes on which the site is located in the southward directions (south, southeast, and southwest) in 52.1% of the entire slopes, and the site is most broadly distributed on these slopes. As a result of GIS analysis of the remains scale, it was found that the remains of the Oryangdong site is located on the flat or gentle slope whose altitude is 10.3 to 15.8m (average 13.3m) and gradient is 1.7 to 6.9° (average 3.9°), and the slopes on which the remains are located in the southwest direction in 44.4% and the northeast direction in 44.4% of the entire slopes, respectively, and the remains are most broadly distributed on these slopes.
This means that the Oryangdong site built kilns on the ground surface of the southward directions slopes which has little possibility to be inundated by flood water of the river, whose ground surface is comparatively flat and which has relatively plentiful amount of sunshine in consideration of altitude, gradient and slope directions in the time of construction of the kilns for jar coffins. Therefore, it is thought that the Oryangdong site is located at the place of the gift of nature that was very beneficial to the aspect of accessibility to the jar coffin’s raw materials producing area and transportation, and convenience to distribution of complete products, avoiding of natural disaster, securement of space for production (kiln) and the quantity of sunshine.
