Recently, K-pop has boomed globally, and the number of relatives has grown significantly. Industrial historical analysis is used to perform macro-level analysis of the causes of growth and understand what and how leads the industry. For this, it is necessary to explain the specificity of the music industry and the diachronic analysis of the dynamics of its structure and initiatives.
To this end, this study analyzes K-pop historically with AIHP (an Analysis for Industrial History on Philosophical Understanding) methodology. It derives causality through the analysis of technique, law, and distribution to find its structure and initiatives. Consequently, this explains technological innovations in media—physical media, file downloading, and streaming—were the main causes of changes in the K-pop industry. Extending the analysis, it is predictable that conflicts between fandom and the current initiatives may change the K-pop industry. AIHP analysis of the K-pop industry shows integratedly how this differs from the others. It is also suggested that a probability of various approaches is important to understand an industry and scientific explanations with causality to explain differences.
