삼독(三毒) 척도 개발과 타당도 검증 (Development of the Three-Poison Scale and Examining its Validation)

초록

본 연구는 삼독의 불교학 이론적 근거를 기본으로 하여 삼독 척도의 구성 개념과 유사한 개념의 다양한 심리적 척도를 살펴서 예비 문항들을 개발하였고, 이를 불교한 전문가들에 의해 내용타당도 검증을 거쳐 확정된 탐, 진, 치 각 15개 문항으로 구성된 삼독 척도를 개발하였다. 연구참여자는 1차에서 368명, 2차에 564명의 성인이었으며, 이들 자료에 대하여 주성분분석, 공통요인분석을 탐색적으로 사용하여 결과를 도출하였으며, 신뢰도 분석과 타 척도와의 상관관계를 분석하여 그 타당성을 검사하였다. 분석결과 1차 연구에서는 총 9개 요인에 27문항을 가지고 있는 요인상관 모형이 최종 선택되었고, 2차 연구에서는 19개 문항으로 탐 진 치 아래 8개의 하위 요인을 가진 고차요인모형의 삼독 척도가 개발되었다. 본 연구는 삼독이라는 불교의 핵심 개념을 심리통계학적인 방법을 사용하여 척도화를 시도한 최초의 연구라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구가 삼독 측정 도구를 개발한 첫 연구라는 점에서 예비적 연구로서의 의의를 찾을 수 있으며 향후 보다 완성된 삼독의 측정 도구가 개발되어 활용되기를 바란다.

영어초록

This study aims to develop a three-poison scale that can measure the three poisons: greed (貪欲, lobha), anger (瞋恚, dosa), and ignorance (愚癡, moha) and verify the validity of the developed measurement tool. According to the teachings of the Buddha, the three poisons of greed, anger, and greed are the most fundamental causes of suffering. It is the defilments of the three poisons that harms an individual’s physical and mental health and causes conflicts in social relationships with others. If the three poison scale is developed, it will be possible to measure the person’s three poisons more accurately and specifically, so that the person’s psychological state or temperament can be more accurately understood.Based on the Buddhist theoretical basis of the three poisons, preliminary questions were developed by examining various psychological scales with similar concepts to the constituent concepts of the three poisons scale, and these were confirmed through content validity verification by Buddhist experts. A three-poison scale consisting of 5 items (5 items for each of the three sub-factors) was developed. The study participants were 368 adults in the first round and 564 adults in the second round. Principal component analysis and common factor analysis were used exploratively on these data to derive results, and reliability analysis and correlations with other scales were analyzed for testing its validity. As a result, the first study showed that a factor correlation model with a total of 9 factors and 27 questions was finally selected, and in the second study, a three-poison scale of a higher-order factor model with 19 questions and 8 sub-factors was developed. This study can be said to be the first study to attempt to scale the core concept of Buddhism, or the three poisons, using a psychostatistical method. This study is to very important in that it is the first pilot study in the field of Buddhist studies and psychology; it is hoped that a more complete three-poison scale will be developed and used in the future.
