최적의 수식 낭독 방법 도출을 위한 시각장애인 이해도와 만족도 분석 (An analysis on the understanding and satisfaction of optimal math reading methods for people with visual disabilities)

초록

시각장애인은 시각적 정보에 접근하는데 제한점을 가지고 있다. 특히 이미지, 도형 등 시각적 정보가 주된 내용으로 구성되어 있는 수학은 이해와 응용에 있어 교육과 접근에 가장 큰 어려움을 나타내고 있는 분야이다. 수학의 교육 및 접근 지원방안으로 교과서의 내용을 대체텍스트 및 점자, 청각적 정보로 제공하고 있으나 높은 논리력을 요구하는 수학적 정보에서는 직관적이면서 체계적인 전달 방안이 필요하다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 학교에 재학 중인 시각장애인, 특수학교에서 근무하는 시각장애인 수학 교사, 점역교정사를 대상으로 정규 수학 교과서에 기입되어 있는 내용 중 “유형 1 집합 & 집합의 연산”, “유형 2 명제의 역, 이, 대우 & 필요조건과 충분조건”, “유형 3 제곱근 & 거듭제곱근의 성질”, “유형 4 실수 & 복소수 & 절댓값을 포함한 일차부등식”, “유형 5 십진법 & 지수법칙”, “유형 6 점, 선, 멱, 각” 6가지 유형으로 구분하고 해당 유형의 대표적 수식을 추출하여 “선행연구 독음 방식(A)”, “EBS 수능방송 낭독 방식(B)”, ‘점자 번역 방식(C)“ 총 3가지의 낭독법을 듣고 수식 이해도와 만족도가 높은 수식 낭독 방법을 도출하는 것에 연구 목적이 있다. 연구참여자에게 하나의 수식을 세 가지의 음성 낭독법에 대하여 듣고 이 중 이해도가 높았던 수식 낭독법을 비교하여 평가하고 유형별 평가 종료 시마다 만족도를 평가하였다. 평가 종료 후 낭독법에 관한 개인별 의견 조사를 진행하였다. 평가 결과로는 EBS 수능방송 화면해설 방식(B) 낭독법이 가장 높은 이해도와 만족도를 나타냈다. 연구참여자 특성별 효과적이며 사용도 높은 음성 낭독법을 제시하였으며, 연구 결과를 토대로 후속 연구에는 각 유형별 세분화된 음성 낭독 정의가 필요하다.

영어초록

People with visual disabilities have limitations in accessing and reading visually. In particular, mathematics, which consists mainly of visual information such as images and figures, is a field that presents the greatest difficulties in education and access in understanding and application. As a support plan for education and access to mathematics, the contents of textbooks are provided as alternative texts, braille, and auditory information, but an intuitive and systematic delivery plan is required for mathematical information that requires high logical power. Accordingly, in this study, there were 10 participants, six students with visual disabilities, one math teacher with a visual disability, and three braille transcribers/proofreaders. Representative math formulas were extracted from six math types of “Type 1 Set & Set Operation”, “Type 2 Converse, Inverse, Contrapositive of Proposition & Necessary and Sufficient Condition", "Type 3 Properties of Square Root & Power Root", "Type 4 Real Numbers & Complex Numbers & Absolute Values", "Type 5 Decimal System & Exponential Law", and "Type 6 Points, Lines, Face, and Angle”. Reading methods were divided into three of “Prior Study Reading Method (A)”, “EBS SAT Broadcast Reading Method (B)”, and “Braille Translation Method (C)” The purpose of this study was to listen to three reading methods and derive a method for reading equations with high understanding and satisfaction.Participants in the study listened to one formula for three voice reading methods, compared and evaluated the formula reading method with high comprehension among the three types of voice reading methods, and used the satisfaction level at each end of the end of the evaluation for each type. We conducted a survey of individual opinions on the reading methods. As a result, the screen commentary method (B) of the EBS SAT broadcast showed the highest level of understanding and satisfaction. An effective and highly usable speech reading method for each study participant's characteristics was suggested. Based on the results of the study, detailed speech reading definitions for each type are required for follow-up studies.
