The Relationship among Learning Experience, Learning Outcomes and Learning Satisfaction of College Students: Mediation Effect of Learning Engagement

초록

Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between Chinese undergraduate students' learning experience, learning outcomes and learning satisfaction, and to verify whether learning engagement plays a mediating role. Through this achievement, this research sought to provide a scheme for improving teachers' classroom teaching and teaching quality.
Methods 2,879 undergraduate students from grade one to grade three in a university of China were selected as participants. In this research, structural equation model was used to explore the relationship between learning experience, student engagement and learning outcomes. Amos 23.0 was used for confirmatory factor analysis and SPSS 23.0 was used for descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. In addition, bootstrap method was used to explore the mediating role of student engagement between learning experience and learning outcomes.
Results Firstly, good teaching are positively correlated with learning outcomes and learning satisfaction.
Secondly, teaching interaction are positively correlated with learning outcomes and learning satisfaction. Thirdly, teaching organization are positively correlated with learning satisfaction, but not directly correlated with learning outcomes. Fourthly, learning engagement did not play a mediating role between good teaching and learning out comes, and good teaching and learning satisfaction. But learning engagement has a significant partial mediating effect between teaching interaction and learning outcomes, and teaching interaction and learning satisfaction, as well as a significant full mediating effect between teaching organization and learning outcomes.
Conclusions This study is based on the development of times and the current situation of the classroom reform, and studies the relationship between the learning experience, learning engagement, learning outcomes and learning satisfaction of college students, which proves the mediating role of learning engagement. The results are significant for improving the learning and teaching in Chinese colleges
