르네상스의 예술 공간론과 다세계 공간론 (A theory of artistic space and a theory of multi-world space in renaissance)

초록

본 연구는 르네상스 공간론들의 근원에 인문주의적 이념이 놓여 있음을 해명하였다. 예술의 퍼스펙티바 공간론과 철학의 다세계 공간론은 다른 영역들임에도 불구하고 르네상스의 독특한 인문주의를 발전시키고 유포하는 데 기여하였다. 르네상스의 공간이론은 공간에 대한 종교적 해석으로부터 인간의 해방을 추구한다. 이 해방은 종교적 관점을 배제하려는 활동이 아니라 종교적 관점을 새롭게 해석하고 정초하려는 활동이다. 두 이론에 의하면, 공간에는 서열이 없으며, 지구는 천체운동의 중심이 아니다. 우주에서 모든 장소들은 동등하며, 어떤 장소도 특별한 우선권을 갖지 않는다.
본 연구는 먼저 알베르티와 다빈치의 퍼스펙티바 공간론에 함축된 인문주의상, 즉 인간이 공간구성의 주체이라는 이념의 의미에 대해서 다루었다. 르네상스 예술 공간론은 이원론적으로 다루어졌던 정신적 공간과 육체적 공간을 퍼스펙티바 기법을 통해서 하나의 통일적인 공간으로 표현하였다. 이 기법은 알베르티의 기하학적 입체 연구에서 기반이 조성되었고, 다빈치의 색, 빛, 자연에 대한 과학적 관찰과 실험들을 통해서 색체 퍼스펙티바, 대기 퍼스펙티바 등으로 구체화되었다. 퍼스펙티바 기법은 사물의 입체적 요소에 대한 이해뿐만 아니라 형태, 색, 빛, 풍경 등 다양한 요소들에 대한 통합적인 이해를 통해서 완성된다. 이 기법에 의해서 공간 구성의 주체가 인간이며, 공간이 물질 자연과 인간 정신의 결합체라는 자각이 일깨워졌다.
다음으로 본 연구는 르네상스 철학의 다세계 공간론에서 인문주의 이념, 인간의 존엄성, 평등성, 자유 등이 어떤 상징적 표현으로 다루어졌는지 고찰하였다. 다세계 공간론은 공간의 무한성과 다양성을 인식적으로 또는 형이상학적으로 다루었던 쿠사누스와 브루노의 공간론에 대한 명칭이다. 그들은 우주공간을 실체로 파악하지 않는다. 우주공간은 경계가 없으며, 표면도 가지고 있지 않다. 이에 따라서 그들은 천체 위계론를 부정하고 공간의 무한성을 해명한다. 무한한 공간 속에서 천체들은 각자의 내적 원인에 따라 자유롭게 각각의 궤도를 운행한다. 그들은 이 무한한 공간에서 어떤 천체도 중심에 있거나 주변에 있지 않기 때문에, 우주공간에서 중심이나 주변을 정할 수 없다고 주장한다. 그들은 중세의 우주적 서열을 깨뜨림으로써, 지구를 우주의 밑바닥으로부터 끌어올려 고귀한 천체들의 영역 안에 위치시켰다. 그들이 지구를 우주의 중심에서 변방으로 밀어낸 듯이 보이지만, 지상의 인간들은 천상의 거주자들, 예컨대 천사들과 대등한 존재로 격상되었다. 이것은 지리적 공간의식의 확장과 함께 다른 지역 거주민들의 존재권리에 대한 자각으로 이어졌다. 그들의 공간론은 인간의 존엄성이 사회적 신분이나 능력의 차이에 의해서 훼손될 수 없으며, 각 지역의 거주민들은 서로에 대해 대등한 존재이라는 사실에 대한 상징적 표현으로 해석될 수 있다.

영어초록

Our article studies humanistic idea in the soures of renaissance theories of space. In spite of their difference in disciplines perspectiva theory of space in art and poly-world space theory in philosophy contribute to develop and spread characteristic humanism of renaissance in europe. Theory of space in renaissance is a try for haman emancipation from theological elucidation to space. This emancipation is not an action to neglect a theological thought but to establishment an new thought for space. According to two theories, there is no hierarchy in space, and the earth is not center of the movement of celestial spheres. Every places in universal space are mutually equal, and also any place has not any special and distinct priority.
First, our article treated the humanism in perspectiva theory of space of Alberty and Da Vinci. The theory of space in renaissance art unifies the material space and the mental space into a homogeneous space by perspectiva method. This is completed not only in an understanding of cubic shape of things but also in an integrated understanding to the shape, the color, the light, and the landscape, etc. It is awakened by the perspectiva method to men that human is a subject of constituition of space, and that space is a complexity of material nature and human mentality.
Second, our article studies any symbolical expression by what the idea of humanism, that is, dignity of human is treated in poly-world theory of space of renaissance. "The poly-world theory of space" is named for a theory of space of Cusanus and Bruno who treated cognitively or metaphysically infinity and multiplicity of space. They have not grasped universal space as a substance. Universal space has not any boundary and surface. For this reason, they deny the theory of a celestial hierarchy, and elucidate the infinity of space. Celestial spheres roll selbst on in their courses by their internal causes in the infinite space. They argued that any sphere is not in the center or in the circumference. By their destruction of the medieval celestial hierarchy, the earth is located from the bottom of universe into the region of noble celestial spheres. Although it is apparently seen that the earth is ousted from the center of universe to the circumference, terrestrial men are elevated in the status of celestial inhabitants, for instance, men are elevated in equal status to the angels. With expansion of geographical space consciousness, this is leaded to an awakening for a right of existence of inhabitants of another residential districts. The two theories of space in renaissance will be interpret as a symbolic expression for the facts that the diginity of human can not be damaged by his social class and his capability, and that whoever inhabitants of all residential districts is one's equal one another.
