It is difficult to see the Korean Multicultural society is mature. But rapid rise in the number of foreigners demands us beginning to worry seriously about transition into an Multicultural society.
Since 2004 the number of foreigners has increased sharply. To cope with this situation, Korean Government has made the various policies for multicultural problems.
Now the Government-sponsored Multicultural Policy Coordination is quite adopt the assimilative immigrant policy.
Because The government only support and aid married immigrants, and their children, to settle in the nation without problems to easily assimilated into Korean culture.
As the number of foreign residents in Korea is increasing every year, experts on multiculturalism believe that Koreans need to be educated on how to understand an increasingly multicultural society. but In reality, there is no theoretical and philosophical basis on multicultural reality in Korea, so that these policies performed by each ministries without cooperation and consistency have resulted in conflicts and confusion. To coordinate multicultural policies, we recommend to prepare a basic law on multicultural affairs so that ministries can carry out multicultural policies in a consistent and systematic way.
The recent cultural conflict in France, revealed after Europe’s unification, appears to be a case of globalization’s internalization among migratory laborers. The resulting conflict between cultures proves that international cooperation or integration, without multicultural cognizance and civic ethics, is but a prelude to serious cultural conflict. The aspect of assimilative immigrant policy development gives great instruction to us who enter multiracial and multicultural society.
Multiculturalism basically respects the difference but not differentiation.
Pulpits in Korea are actively involved in Multi-cultural activities in preparation for the multicultural era.
Pulpits' Multi-cultural activities increase the social unity and will be the foundation for overcome The problems of Korea facing Multicultural society like Discrimination against non-Koreans, Social distance with foreign groups,But multicultural society is multi-religious society. In cases of countries which already adopted multiculturalism, religious conflicts is factors creating the high social conflict level. so Pulpits in Korea should prepare to take measures for the advent multicultural society.
Given that a multi-cultural society is irrevocable and we must embrace immigrants, the central and local governments need to provide policies helping immigrants successfully settle in Korea while residents should be aware that immigrants are their neighbors who will develop Korea's future together, creating an integrated local community with emotional support for them to develop a strong multi-cultural society.
The conflict and problem of human societies were solved by their self-reflection and then they process to better future. As this self-reflection, religion is a big role for us. and religion is absolute belief-system, has a large influence in the society.
In the multicultural era, Our society expect that religion contribute to society, and improve the world.
