유아교사의 다문화 감수성, 다문화교육 이해 및 태도의 관계 : 다문화 교수효능감의 매개효과 (The mediating effect of multicultural teaching efficacy on the relationships among early childhood teachers' sensitivity, understanding, and attitudes toward multicultural education)

초록

본 연구는 유아교사의 다문화 감수성, 다문화교육 이해, 다문화 교수효능감 및 다문화교육 태도 간의 구조적 관계를 밝히는 통합적 분석을 시도함으로써 유아교사의 다문화적 역량에 대한 보다 종합적인 이해를 돕고자 한다. 연구대상은 G시와 J도에 소재한 유치원 및 보육시설 교사 377명으로 이들에게 다문화 감수성, 다문화교육 이해 및 태도, 다문화 교수효능감 검사지를 배부하고 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 19.0 프로그램과 AMOS 19.0 프로그램을 이용하여 구조방정식 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 유아교사의 다문화 감수성, 다문화교육 이해, 다문화 교수효능감 및 다문화교육 태도의 측정변인에 대한 경로계수는 .05수준에서 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 뿐만 아니라 4가지 변인들 사이에는 직접효과와 간접효과가 존재하며 특히, 다문화 교수효능감의 매개효과가 검증되었다. 이러한 결과는 다문화 시대에 요구되는 유아교사의 다문화교육 태도에 대한 이론적, 실제적인 이해와 예비교사와 현직교사를 위한 교사교육과정 구성에 시사한다고 볼 수 있다.

영어초록

This study uses integrative analysis to clarify the structural relationships among early childhood teachers' multicultural sensitivity, understanding of multicultural education, multicultural teaching efficacy, and attitudes toward multicultural education.
Subjects were 377 teachers and the instruments used were the Intercultural Sensitivity Scale, Misconceptions List about Multicultural Education, Multicultural Efficacy Scale, and Teacher Multicultural Attitude Survey. Statistical analysis of the collected data was carried out with the SPSS 19.0 program and AMOS 19.0 program.
In this analysis, the path coefficient on measurement variables of early childhood teachers' multicultural sensitivity, understanding of multicultural education, multicultural teaching efficacy (general life, instructional function, human relations), and attitude toward multicultural education was found to be significant at the level of .05. The next step was to verify the more definite mediating effect among variables and for this, a Sobel test, Aroian test, and Goodman test were carried out. The results from these tests found the mediating effect of the multicultural teaching efficacy variable (which encompasses general world view, instructional functioning, and human relations skills) to be statistically significant to the relationships among teachers’ multicultural sensitivity, understanding of multicultural education, and attitude toward multicultural education. We can conclude as well that teachers’ attitudes toward multicultural education itself are significantly influenced by all the other variables in this study.
These results offer basic data to the specific and substantial understanding of early childhood teachers' attitudes toward multicultural education and imply that a healthy, informed attitude can be developed through teacher curriculums for pre-and in-service teachers.
