정서지능 교육 프로그램이 초등학생의 갈등해결전략과 또래관계에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Emotional Intelligence Education Program on the Conflict Resolution Strategy and Peer Relationship of Elementary School Students)

초록

본 연구는 정서지능 교육 프로그램이 초등학교 아동의 갈등해결전략과 또래관계에 미치는 효과를 알아보기 위해 실시되었다. 서울시 소재 S초등학교 5학년 한 반을 실험집단으로 하고, 정서지능 검사와 갈등해결전략 검사 및 또래관계 검사를 사전검사로 실시하여 실험집단과 동질성이 확보된 한 개 반을 통제집단으로 선정하였다. 실험집단 대상에게는 일주일에 세 번, 회기 당 50~60분씩 총 10회기에 걸쳐 실험처치 하였으며 통제집단은 무처치하였다. 실험처치 후 집단 간 정서지능검사, 갈등해결전략검사, 또래관계 검사의 사전, 사후 검사를 비교 분석하였고, 실험집단의 각 회기별 소감문, 연구자의 관찰기록, 프로그램 평가 설문 등을 분석하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 정서지능 교육 프로그램을 실시한 실험집단은 통제집단에 비해 전체 정서지능이 유의미하게 향상되지는 않았지만 정서지능의 하위변인인 정서인식 및 표현, 사고 촉진, 정서 활용, 정서조절이 유의미하게 증가하였다. 둘째, 정서지능 교육 프로그램을 실시한 실험집단은 통제집단에 비해 갈등해결전략 중 양보전략과 회피전략이 유의미하게 감소되었다. 셋째, 정서지능 교육 프로그램을 실시한 실험집단은 통제집단에 비해 또래관계 능력이 유의미하게 향상되었으며 또래관계의 하위변인인 만족감, 의사소통, 친근감, 신뢰감이 유의미하게 향상되었다.

영어초록

The purpose of this study was to see how emotional intelligence education program improves the emotional intelligence, the conflict resolution strategy and peer relationship of elementary school students. The subjects of this study were 2 classes from the 5th grade of S elementary school in Seoul city. One class(30 children) was placed in an experimental group and the other class(30 children) that had same quality with the experimental group was placed in a control group. The research design of this study is based on a pre-test, a post-test between two groups. With the test data, the feedbacks were collected to identify the subjects' responds to the program. The quantitative results of this study are as follows; First, in comparison with the control group, the experimental group that were participated in emotional intelligence education program showed no significant improvement in total emotional intelligence, but showed significant improvement in its sub-factors such as emotional perception and expression, emotional facilitation of thought, utilization of emotion, regulation of emotion. Second, in comparison with the control group, the experimental group that were participated in emotional intelligence education program showed significant reduction in avoidance conflict resolution strategy and concessive conflict resolution strategy. Third, in comparison with the control group, the experimental group that were participated in emotional intelligence education program showed significant improvement in peer relationship and its sub- factors such as feeling of satisfaction, good understanding, feeling of trust, friendly feeling. Qualitative analysis to supplement the results of quantitative study showed that children got to know the understanding of emotional intelligence, and they acquire emotional control strategy and practice it in their real life. These results show that emotional intelligence education program improves children's emotional intelligence at school and it helps to cope with a conflict situation wisely, to enhances the ability of harmonious relationship, take adaptability in school life and promote the quality of life.
