아동학대 신고의무, 교육, 그리고 실행의도의 상호작용이 아동학대 신고의도에 미치는 효과 (Effect of the Interaction Among Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse, Education, and Implementation Intention on the Intent to Report Child Abuse)

초록

본 연구는 아동학대 신고의무 제도와 아동학대 신고교육이 아동학대 신고의도에 미치는 효과를 탐색하고, 아동학대 신고에 대한 실행의도가 아동학대 신고의도에 미치는 효과를 검증하기 위해 이루어졌다. 이를 위해 제주 소재 한국인 300명이 연구에 참여하였고, 이 중 절반은 실행의도가 있는 조건에 남은 절반은 없는 조건에 무작위로 할당되었다. 구체적으로 실행의도가 없는 조건의 참가자들은 [나는 아동학대가 의심되는 상황에 대해 112에 신고할 것이다]라고 기술한 후, 16가지 아동학대 사례에 대한 신고의도를 7점 척도로 평가하였고, 실행의도가 있는 조건 참가자들은 [만약 아동학대가 의심되는 상황을 목격한다면, 나는 112에 신고할 것이다]라고 기술한 후, 신고의도를 평정하였다. 결과적으로 아동학대 신고의무자는 비신고의무자보다, 교육 이수자는 비이수자보다, 실행의도를 진술한 사람은 그렇지 않은 사람보다 아동학대 신고의도가 강했다. 또한 실행의도가 아동학대 신고의도를 증진시키는 효과가 아동학대 비신고의무자와 아동학대 교육이수자에게 더 높게 나타나는 상호작용이 관찰되었다. 아울러 아동학대 신고의무자가 교육을 받을 경우에는 신고의도가 증가하지만, 비의무자가 교육을 받을 경우에는 신고의도가 오히려 감소하는 현상도 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 아동학대 관련 홍보자료와 광고카피 제작, 아동학대 신고교육 콘텐츠, 아동학대 신고교육 대상자 선정에 시사점을 준다.

영어초록

This study examines the effect of mandatory reporting of child abuse and education on reporting child abuse on the intent to report child abuse. It also investigates the effect of the implementation intention for child abuse reporting on the intent to report child abuse. A total of 300 Koreans participated in this study. The respondents were randomly assigned to two groups, with half being assigned to the condition with implementation intention to report child abuse and the remaining half to the condition without it. After the participants without the implementation intention for reporting of child abuse declared, “I will report a situation where I suspect child abuse to 112 (112 is a crime report number in South Korea.)” their intention to report child abuse was evaluated in 16 cases on a seven-point scale. After the participants with implementation intention to report child abuse declared, “If I witness a situation where I suspect child abuse, then I will report it to 112,” their intent to report child abuse was evaluated. As a result, those obligated to report child abuse showed a stronger intent to report child abuse than those who were not obligated. Those who received education on reporting child abuse showed a stronger intent to report child abuse than those who did not. Those who declared their intent to implement reporting of child abuse showed a stronger intent to report child abuse than those who did not. In addition, we observed an interaction where the effect of the implementation intention to report child abuse was stronger among those who were not obligated to report it and those who received education. Receiving education led to a higher intent to report child abuse among those who were obligated to report it, but the opposite effect was observed among those who were not obligated to report it, and the intent to report decreased after receiving education. This study has implications for developing child-abuse-related promotional materials, advertising its importance, creating contents for education on reporting child abuse, and selecting subjects for education.
