타이완의 중국연구: 형성과 변천 그리고 추세 (China Studies in Taiwan: Formation, Transition and Tendency)

초록

이 글은 1950년대부터 현재까지 타이완의 중국연구의 변천을 고찰하고 중국연구기제의 구조와 특색을 중심으로 살핀 것이다. 1950년대 중반, 타이완의 중국연구는 적정(敵情)분석 성격의 반공(反共)연구로 시작하여 1970~80년대 반공연구의 학술화 시기를 거쳐서 1990년대 이후 사회 주도 아래 지역학 위주의 학술연구로 발전하였다. 현재 대학 및 민간 연구기구에서 타이완의 중국연구를 수행하고 있다. 중국연구의 발전에 제일 기여한 기구는 타이완의 대학들이다. 타이완의 대학들은 연구기제 확충을 통하여 중국연구 발전에 기여했다. 중국연구기구는 교육기구와 연구기구로 이분화되어 교육기구는 전문적인 중국연구자를 배출하고 또한 연구기구는 중국연구자에게 양질의 연구환경을 제공하고 있다. 또한 타이완 중국연구의 특색으로는 대부분의 중국연구기구가 타이베이에 집중되어 있다는 것이다. 그 가운데 정즈(政治) 대학은 풍부한 연구자원으로 동아연구소, 국가발전연구소, 국제관계연구중심, 중국대륙연구중심, 양안정경연구중심 등 복수의 중국연구기구를 구축하고 이를 바탕으로 중국연구를 주도하고 있다.

영어초록

This paper is to examine China studies in Taiwan from the period of 1950s to the present. In 1950s, Taiwan’s China studies were motivated by providing the necessary analysis in order to develop strategies for anti-communism. Due to the change of political landscape, from 1970 to 1980, the China studies has gradually transformed into more academic in nature, due to the change of political landscape. Since 1990, China studies have well developed into a field of academic research.
Today Taiwan’s China studies are carried out mainly by universities and non-government institutions. Between them, to make major contributive organization for China studies are universities in Taiwan. Through expansion of research organization such as department of China studies and center for China studies, universities have contributed to develop China studies. This organization halves educational institution and research institute. Educational institution such as Department of China studies has been producing researchers of professional China studies, also research institute such as center for China studies has been providing high quality research environment to these researchers. In addition, the characteristics of China studies is most of organizations of China studies concentrated at Taipei. National Chengchi University has multiple organizations of China studies such as graduate institute of East Asia studies, graduate institute development studies, institute of international relations center for China studies, center of Cross-Straits Political and Economic Affairs in rich research resource, and so, based on this, has been leading China studies in Taiwan.
