성과 가족, 그리고 한국교육철학의 미래 (The changing condition of sexuality and familial life and the future of Korean philosophy of education)

본 논문은 21세기 급진적인 변화의 소용돌이 속에 놓인 性과 가족의 상황과 관련하여 한국 교육철학이 그 상황과 어떻게 조우하고 있으며, 또한 앞으로는 어떤 방식으로 새롭게 관계해야 하는지를 탐색한 글이다. 우리의 性과 관련한 새로운 존재방식을 묻는 여성학이 학문세계에 등장한 지도 20여년이 지나가지만, 한국 교육철학은 그 여성학과의 진지한 만남을 수행하지 않았고, 그리하여 오늘날 모두에게 문제가 된 性과 몸, 가족과 관련하여 한국 교육철학이 의미있는 대답을 주고 있지 못하다는 것이다. 이러한 문제의식에서 시작하여 먼저 지난 20여 년간 한국 교육철학적 담론 안에서 이 주제와 관계해서 어떠한 논의가 이루어졌는가를 살펴보았고, 다음으로 오늘날 급진적인 변화의 소용돌이 속에 있는 性과 가족의 상황을 좀 더 구체적으로 살펴보았다. 그 상황이란 아주 과격하게 문화의 성애화와 가족의 탈제도화, 한국 가족 구조의 다양화 등으로 파악할 수 있었는데, 그렇다면 이러한 변화된 상황 속에서 性과 가족은 인간 교육을 위해서 어떠한 의미를 계속적으로 가질 수 있는지 살펴보았다. 즉 비록 외형적인 형태는 다양하게 변화하고 있지만 좁은 반경의 인간적인 관계인 가족은 인간 性의 계발과 도야를 위해서 필수불가결한 요소로 파악되었으며, 따라서 한국 교육철학이 미래에는 이러한 여성학적 담론들과 더욱 대화하여서 자신의 사고를 전개시켜나가야 할 것을 촉구하였다.

영어초록

This article is a work which has studied the changing condition of sexuality and the familial life in relation with the future of Korean philosophy of education. Until recently, Korean philosophy of education didn't give enough attention to the rapidly changed situation of modern sexual consciousness and the wide spread of modern feminist view. This resulted in its incapability to give any reasonable guide to our generation regarding to this highly important theme of our life.
The wide spread of modern feminism caused the fundamental reconstruction of our traditional familial life, and our modern family doesn‘t be regarded anymore as its ideal form. So this article has studied, how this change is radical, and how we can get a new alternative familial life-form which isn't anymore sexist and woman-sacrificing. We are in firm belief in the value of familial life for the education of growing generations. The reason is that growing generations can learn the virtues of humanity in relationship with their narrow familial members only, more generally speaking, human-being can be human-being through such human relationships only.
Korean traditional Confucian legacy can help us to teach coming generations this human virtues, because it emphasizes human filial piety and reverence among family members. Especially, it gives strong emphasis on the reverent attitude of the younger generation toward the elder one which then can't be practiced without the moderation and abstainment of self of the younger generation. In repeated practicing those virtues, human-being can learn how one behaves oneself in harmony with others in our communal life.
However, this rediscovery of Confucian legacy doesn't mean old traditional patriarchal family-form is newly affirmed. Our position is rather that how we can find the new form of familial life which deserves but the Confucian spirit of family for the education of our growing generations. It means we accept the changing condition of our familial life, but we deserve the inner spirit of our traditional communal life.
So, after we have examined the 40 years' trace of academic exchange between Korean philosophy of education and modern feminist discourses, we strongly recommend closer attention to the feminist views and dialogues between them, in order to develope our Korean philosophy of education more time-approving.
